Too funny! I see the CPHL hasn't gotten any more realistic...who won the scoring title during the regular season? Rico Fata?

Craig Anderson must have a wicked collection of Fender guitars...

Congrats to the Canes for moving on...Doug always finds a way to get the most out of his players. Good luck in the finals.

But I gotta say to lose to Craig Anderson makes no sense whatsoever...None...The sim is f***ed...I really don't see the point in building with strong ratings anymore as the results the sim spits out are so random. I mean Nabby gets outduelled by Anderson and Doug intentionally rebuild and looks to next year and steam rolls the league with one player over 75.

Yeah, some times I think SIM chemistry (whatever that is) is more valuable than overall ratings... perhaps trading and trading, and trading some more until a good mix is found is the best way to win it all... regardless OVs, PAs, PC, SC, DF, etc...

Its pretty bizarre to say the least. It should be an interesting final....hard to say which team has the edge going into this series.

Good season for you Goffie where you battled back to get a playoff spot and then advanced to the conference finals. All in all that is a pretty good result although I know your goal was a little higher.

Well Goff certainly didnt have a shortage of trading all year. He did his best to continuously shake up his team trying to get some sim chem.

Realistically though, a team should require 3 or so super stars to advance this far in the playoffs at least. Even in the NHL chemistry means a lot but if you look at all the underdog stories every team has 3 some studs. The Flames had Iggy, Regehr and Kipper. The Oilers had Pronger, Roloson (yes I know most hate him) and Hemsky/Horcoff (am I forgeting someone).

Tough for Goff to build such a stacked team and then lose to a backup to the backup goalie (at least ratings wise).

Congrats to Doug to figuring out the one thing that almost every other GM has had difficulties doing, sim chem!

I doubt Doug figured anything out, he just got lucky. Hell when I was trying to trade with him before the deadline, he figured he wouldn't make it past 4 or 5 games.

The sim does what it wants, thats why I say get the guys you like and hope for the best. Overpaying for some guys just because they have a high OV doesn't mean anything. Find what works best for you and run with it

Congratulations to both the Sharks and Canes for advancing to the final and best of luck to the both of you. SJ is easily the GM of the year this year and really it should be a unanimous vote.

With that said, I have to echo Goffie and Kevin's sentiments. This year more then any the SIM is showing it just spits out random results. The SIM has showed how good players are ratings wise really means squat. A team full of 60 ov players has just a good chance (if not better) then beating a team full of 80 ov players. Sim chemistry is important but it seems a bit unrealistic the way some of the results are going these playoffs.

As mentioned earlier, good luck to both teams in the finals.

The results of the sim this year seem particularly weird. However, keep in mind to make the playoffs you need to have a pretty good team. Over the course of a 7 game series weird stuff can happen but over the course of an entire season the cream generally does rise.

Yeah over the year the top teams did seem to prevail no doubt. Obviously there are a couple exceptions (flyers/preds) but that always happens in the NHL too. As Neil stated I think sim chem is important but has been fairly unrealistic throughout these playoffs. Mirroring Spikes view, it seems like it is better to just trade for the guys you like and then just hope the sim works out, at least that way if you lose you are losing with the players you like.

Thanks for the respect Goffie, I'll post later a more in depth later.... There's no question that you team should have been victorious and they also gave the gretzky conference a better chance at winning the Cup then having me go on.

We should change the name of the Carolina Hurricanes to Heatley and the Pylons by reading some of these comments. There is no question that all results are random and no question that for a 6th seed like me to be lucky enough to make it this far that a lot of roadblocks need to be removed from my path to get there.

Would I have expected the Canes to get a chance to play for the Cup at the deadline... hell no, but that didn't stop me from doing everything I thought I could to make the key additions to make a run of it either. For myself I'm happy because like Jeff and Axel, the three of us have been here a very long time hammering at this without much success. In that time, there's bound to be a few things that you observe that you can utilize in hope that luck is kind to you... one of those is getting over the ignorance of OV's... a Ov's is nothing more the a trading chip.

Did I expect to win this series, hell i didn't expect to go 5 games with the Thrashers and as a betting man I wouldn't make that bet if we had a redo. But one thing i do know is that this team is a little more then a bunch of 60ov players and one 80ov player. Anderson has a 2.90 GAA, nothing mind blowing about that for 4 games work and mostly relief work BUT if you think that my confidence in him this season was anything more then luck then I suggest to some GM's to take a little more time scouting teams when making to look for a deal.... Anderson is nothing great but just like in real life, if I use his sparingly and key moments he doesn't let me down.

It's ironic Kilger was the first star today.... just like in the NHL a strong playoff run is made up of key moments that either moves you forward or sets your tee time... like Yelle, Suter move in the 1st round, Wiess in the 2nd. orJust like Goffie looking past the Ov with Spezza and making the great move to place him on 3rd line was the key. Now lastly this Kilger move seem successful. Now the question is do I have any more rabbits or will me next pull be the reaper.

Wow, as much as it was a pipe dream for my Sharks to be in the finals, I REALLY didn't expect to be facing off against the Canes! Normally I'd be loving this but this Canes team has played great hockey and I really don't know what to think of them. Looking at their roster they have Heatley at 83ov (I know we have come to the conclusion that OV means nothing here, but for arguments sake) and their next best player is a 75ov of which there are 6, including their starting goalie. The Sharks on the other hand have 14 players that are rated better than the Canes 2nd best player, 6 of which are 80ov or better, and yet who wins the cup is anybody's guess....crazy, crazy sim.

Anyways, congrats to the Pens for an insane year of ups and downs, and to the Canes for their amazing playoff run! Should be an....oh, I don't know....interesting final series.

Hey HS since the OV doesn't mean anything can I have first crack at Heatley for a package of 72-73OV players when he's done parading around with the cup?
