Question Allergy testing?

I am thinking of going for some allergy testing, but I don't know anyone who has done this before. Is there different tests? Or an all in one?

Any insight from my fellow CP'ers would be great!

Thanks.

from what I've heard they prick your forearm with about a billion* needles at once with different allergens and see which ones react. It's the very reason I haven't done it.

*it's more like 10 or something but more than I care to be pricked with at once.

I got allergy tested a couple of years ago, and yes they scrap your arm with needles, I think I got about 20 needles and then they watch to see how your skin reacts. Its not painful or anything, but it is uncomfortable for a while.

It took half a day for the swelling to drop

Not a big deal at all - takes about half and hour and costs about $25 for the supplies they use... What is a pain in the ass is that they are booking in late November (at the clinic that I go to - was there for my monthly shot yesterday actually) and that it is by referal only...

If my eldest, who was 2 at the time, can handle it (they did it on his back, because his little arms were too tiny!!), so can you. I've had it done in the past as well, and it's really not painful or anything. You can't move your arm, and I think that's the worst of it!! It's really great information to have, that's for sure !!!

I had one done. 150 needle pricks on both arms.. Took a while and got a bit annoying after a while but not a huge deal. Looks funny when you have all the coding and pin pricks all over your arm afterwards.. all that and they found 3 minor things.

Wow, you guys got it easy, they just threw me into the wilderness with a jug of assorted nuts and waited to see if I'd die.

Haha, still here you jerks!

I had it done on my back as well, and it was much better than my arm.
They usually mark up your arm with pen to circle the allergies so having it on my back was easier to conceal
