Default Shaw PVR screwed-up

Anybody seen this before: (?)

Shaw HDPVR (Motorola 160 GB version) seems unable to replay recordings that I know are good--I've watched them previously--and doesn't function when attempting to pause live TV. After attempting a pause, the channel is just blank until I change to a different channel and return to the original. Is my hard drive screwed up, or is it something simple?

Is it under warranty from Shaw? Just call their tech support.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

Kind of a stupid question, but have you unplugged it for 5 minutes and plugged it back in? That's fixed every shaw box problem I've ever had.

That could be the exact reason why he's having the issue. If you unplug the hd pvr it causes weird things to happen. I've done it a few times and I was unable to watch recorded shows, when I tried to set a recording it would ask about my vcr, I couldn't access my hd channels, etc.

I'm not sure why they do it this way but every once in a while the Shaw office will try to communicate with your pvr. If it can't access it, it starts acting up.

The solution is to call Shaw and ask them to "reset" your box.

I've had this happen every once in a while. I unplug and plug it back in.

I have some friends that it happens to extremely often though, so I think they will complain to shaw to try to get a new box.

I asked shaw one time why my PVR wasn't working at all (couldn't pause, record, nothing) they just reset it and it was fine but now it doesn't work again so I called and they sent someone out. The LOCAL tech guy said the PVR's are having serious trouble while shaw brings out the VOD but the guys at the call center don't think about that in our area

Same, and fixed that exact problem for me a few times. Thankfully hasn't happened in at least 6 months for me.

I'm going to try unplugging mine when I get home. I find that my PVR works but there is sometimes a significant delay when I hit pause to when the TV actually pauses (or any of the buttons actually.) Anyone else have this problem?

I was having similar problems with mine just after I got it almost two years ago. I have 120GB model and it was apparently a bad problem with them. I thought it was fixed in the 160s.

With mine, it was an overheating issue, it got insanely hot when running. If I unplugged it and let it get cool to the touch, it would be okay until it heated up again.

They sent a tech out who gave me a new box (still the 120) and it hasn't been a problem since.

I have 'freezes' or 'delays' when I forward, pause, etc.. sometimes.

Not sure what causes it but its annoying. Happens probably every day for me.
