Default 50 Greatest Comedy Sketches of All Time

http://www.nerve.com/dispatches/nerv...dySketches/01/

It's heavy on SNL clips for sure. SCTV and Kids in the Hall also make prominent appearances. Most sketches have links to video or at least a transcript though you probably won't be able to watch any of the Hulu clips unless you live in the USA.

Did they miss anything?

I'm partial to Monty Python. Some of their sketches are just brilliant. A few I can think of that weren't on the list are:

Dana Carvey as massive headwound Harry. So funny when he's on the white couch and the dog starts chewing his head off. Disgusting, but I don't think I ever laughed harder in my life at a skit. Oh, sorry I thought we were supposed to say what our favorite skit is.

I was concerned that the number one greatest sketch of all time would not be #1 on this list.

Alas, my fears were realized. However if "Who's On First" couldn't be #1, "The Parrot Shop" is an acceptable top sketch.

I think that the descriptions provided more than sum up my feelings, only that in my opinion they should be reversed.

Can anyone find the clip of Zell Miller on Conan, going "baboon style"?

I'm sure most of you Conan disciples have seen the Zell Miller sketch, if you haven't check it out the video here http://www.nbc.com/Late_Night_with_Conan_O...rien/index.html click on "Watch the clip" and scroll down to Conan Chats with Zell Miller. This was one of the funniest sketches in the history of Conan Here's the text that Conan had with Zell Miller.

Zell: You have insulted me, and now I demand satisfaction!
Conan: What are you talking about?
Zell: I challenge you to meet me tomorrow on the field of honor we will each walk ten paces then I will turn and put my musket ball through your insolent brain!
Conan: Wait a minute I haven't, I'm not going to shoot guns with you.
Zell: Then swords it is! At dawn tomorry I shall skewer your spleen with my Confederate saber and feed your bowls to my ravenous blood hound Antietam.
Conan: Wait I'm sorry I am not having a sword fight with you.
Zell: Well then I will bash your head in with a trash can lid!
Conan: No, No, Sir I'm sorry but none of this is going to happen
Zell: Then you leave me no choice, but to fight you baboon style!
Conan: Baboon Style?
Zell: That's right sir, meet me in the Jungle Canopy, were we will both present our red and swollen posteriors, whose ever backside is most inflamed will get to plant his seed dominant seed in the simian womb of the female baboon! Eight A.M. tomorrow!
Conan: Sir, sir you're not a baboon
Zell: How dare you!

Any Tim Conway sketches from the Carol Burnette show? The rest of the cast couldn't keep a straight face and seeing them lose it and Tim keeping on going always makes me laugh.

Man, it's a travesty if this one isn't on the list. I laugh my guts out everytime I watch it. Definitely one of the best.

I would have to put 'Schwetty Balls' - Alec Baldwin (SNL) on that list somewhere, a classic IMO.

Does anyone remember the pepper boy from mid 90's SNL with Adam Sandler, Farley etc...?

The guys (as per usual) couldn't even keep a straight face. It was one of the best skits ever. Sandler grinding on peoples legs while he cracks pepper on their food in a restaurant

edit.

The synchronized swimming skit with Christopher Guest and Martin Short is one of my all time favorites. Short as Lawrence is priceless.

Frankly, any list of SNL skits has to have this gem from Sandler and Farley in the top 10...so it should be on this list.

Nice to see SNL's "Land Shark" is on the list.

I also loved "Colonel Angus" and "Little Richard Simmons."

Great find. Agree with worth that some of the Python's best stuff didn't make it, although you could really put together a top 50 strictly MP list and it would come close to rivaling this one in terms of pure funny. Hard to argue with #1 though.

I am partial to "Mr. Show," and although they had one sketch make the list, some real gems were left out (probably NSFW, especially #4):
