Default Winning stuff, or, what to do with $500 gift voucher

So at Sydney's Royal Easter Show I entered a draw and described in 25 words or less why they should send me on an all-expense paid trip to the Calgary Stampede.

While I did not win the trip, I did win a $500 gift certificate to R.M. Williams, the Bush Outfitter (Australia's equivalent to Riley & McCormick).

What should I buy, apart from the obligatory hookers and blow? Here is the site: http://www.rmwilliams.com.au/

I'm thinking an Akruba hat and a pair of boots, but I am open to suggestions. Most of this stuff is not really things I would wear outside of Stampede or camping... There are other, less obvious items as well which would be nice such as a swag (a bedroll) or some original Aboriginal artwork.

If I were you I wouldnt waste it on something you will never wear. I agree with stang, I would sell it. Even if you get half the value, you won't be out anything, or, if you really like the artwork, get a nice piece you will enjoy.

There are some really nice boots on that website and the jeans don't look that bad.

Thanks guys.

I'm definitely not going to sell it as I have a chance to get things that I've been meaning to get for years but never got around to it (good boots, good hat, new sleeping bag). It's also getting into autumn here and I don't really have a quality jacket in the country so that is another option. Still undecided, but not for want of ideas.

I would take a look at their art selection too. Not sure what the inside of your home is like, but you never know what you might see.

Mostly, I would stick to the boots though.

The boots look nice, but would they be under $500? I myself love art. In your price range I like vaoo1.76..love those colors, but art is such a personal thing.

When I was in Australia I picked up a pair of boots called Rossi Lights.

They were a lightweight hiking boot that did me really, really well. I'd recommend those again.

The akubra.....it's cool, but like every good quality cowboy hat, it gets more cool the more you wear it and it shows signs of having been worn around.
