Default Need a new lens for Canon T2i

So my best friend is visiting Iceland next month I need to get a new lens, my stock one is pretty solid but I want a 2nd lens that can handle more zoom and give me awesome quality images.

Ive been wanting this one for so long, but curious if I am going too crazy since spending the $700 on this, or just do a decent upgrade for the $300 range.

Canon EF 70-200mm f/4l USM Lens

Any thoughts on this and/or recommendations on other lenses, $700 is well over what I planned to spend but the reviews on this lens have always made me desperately want it.

Oh and this was the other lens I was thinking about:

Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM

Also, since most of my pictures are of trips around Iceland, so nature shots, landscape stuff, and in the winter I might just have to consider a IS with low f stop.

Or maybe there is a lens that works well for both, its so bright and sunny in the summers here, but dark and lots of northern lights in the winter.

The 70-200 F/4L is one of the sharpest lenses that Canon makes; I highly recommend it, and I think it is definitely worth the money.

You can't go wrong with the L series lenses. Just remember that on the T2i the low end at 70mm is actually ~112mm due to the sensor size. So if you are ok with that you should be good.

Right totally forgot about that, 112 is fine, I mean the plan is the stock lens for indoor, parties, the big boy is for my summer trips around Iceland's amazing outdoors and then I have to look into a good wide lens for northern lights/starry skies in the winters.

Uggh damn money sink.

The L series are pricey but I finally bit the bullet and got the 100-400 for my aviation photography, totally worth it.

By the sounds of what you're doing (and the pictures I've already seen), what you need for low light is a tripod and a shutter remote.

As for your wide lens, you probably want the Canon 10-22.
