This is awsome, Googles newest toy is here. http://www.google.com/sky
I have played with it for only about 10 minutes and it is pretty awsome so far. It is just like google earth for outer space.

No offense here, I do think astronomy is really cool...But how can anyone tell the difference between which star is which by looking at that map? I can hardly find the big dipper...

Not that new, although it is nice to see others appreciating it.

Thats some incredible stuff, I was a sky watching freak as a kid and had recently been thinking about getting back into the hobby.

Gotta love technology!

In vaguely related (read: not threadworthy on it's own)...

http://sev.prnewswire.com/aerospace-...4032008-1.html

NASA will hold a media teleconference at 2 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, March 19, to report on the first-ever detection of the organic molecule methane in the atmosphere of a planet orbiting a distant star.
Though the planet is too hot to support life as we know it, the finding demonstrates the ability to detect organic molecules spectroscopically around Earth-like planets in habitable zones around stars.
