Personally, I don't think he helped or hurt the campaign. Most of the people who saw F/11 weren't going to vote for Bush anyway and already knew the story he was telling. People who think that Mike Moore had some kind of revelation in F/11 are giving him way too much credit. He didn't bring up any original ideas in F/11. All he did was put together in a film what many people already believed - and those are the people who went to see the movie.

People who did vote for Bush and saw the film were very likely going to vote for him before anyway.

I think they released the movie far too early. If they had cranked it out in late September the message would still be on people's mind and it also wouldn't have given them so much time to make a bogus flick for the other side. It would have also added to what in hindsight now looks like near-hysteria leading up to the election.

The Republicans are just as good as Hollywood at telling a story. They brilliantly made the draft-dodgers look like better soldiers than the guy who actually went to Viet Nam. I still shake my head at that one.

I see her point. To be honest, I thought Kerry was a brutal candidate. The lesser of two evils, but a brutal candidate. The guy just didn't have the zip that made you want to vote for him. Its done and the Democrats have no one to blame but themselves. Lurch and Teresaaaaaa were just not an attractive alternative.

Third party opinion polls at the time from sources like Pew and the LA Times demonstrated one consistent fact - Farenheit 9/11 had virtually zero impact on the election.

Michael Moore made jugs of money but he was selling to people pre-disposed to buy while those pre-disposed to reject the message also did so.

I don't know if Jeanne Garafaleo had much impact either.

People have a right to their opinion though and a right to hit the stump to tell it, famous or infamous alike. As long as the backlash is acceptable as well.

Meanwhile, a savvy guy like Moore can see a profitable franchise when it hits him in the head so we're sure to see a sequel.

He's already announced it actually.

I cant think of any one person whom Bush's reelection helps more than Michael Moore.

If Kerrys party wanted to win than they should have had a woman run. They wouldn't really have to worry about loosing the redneck voters because stereotypical or not 95% of them vote for Bush and the rest don't vote. And they would gain alot of female voters and the enitre feminist population and would also make a lot of females who don't vote, vote.

I think Kerry was a little weak in his election battles myself. I think he should have right out said Bush is incompetent, a liar, has a corrupt VP etc. etc. Whether you swallow that he wasn't any of those things or not, he could have attacked more and got those that thought "if he can't sling mud with Bush, how's he going to with Bin".

I can.

Osama bin Laden, and all of Saudi Arabia.
