Good rent sites (for Vancouver)?
Does anyone know of any reliable and reasonably active apartment/house rental sites? I'm moving to Vancouver in May and the hunting has begun.
I'm having some luck with craigslist, but not a lot. Kijiji is giving me nothing of substance, and any other site I find seems to have zero traffic and very little in the way of listings.
Any help would be greatly appreciated; if you help me find something, you can have free accomodation or a free night on the town if you are visiting Vancouver in the future.

I found my place on places4rent.com.
Then again I hate where I'm living right now and can't wait to get out in a month and half.
Vancouver's a frustrating place to be house hunting in. Good luck.

viewit.ca - has pictures included so you can get an idea of the actual unit
livedeal.ca - similar style as viewit.ca
Also, check your PM, I have a place for rent

I will also be moving there at the end of this month and will likely be looking for a place either beginning of may or june - if anyone knows of anything or has anything, please let me know (not to steal away from you of course rockstar - but perhaps after he's been taken care of)

It's looking like it. Probably won't happen until September, but I wouldn't mind calculating living expenses ahead of time.

Your skills are getting ever sharper. First you bust Andy Ference after just a few posts, and now you bust a murderer before he even commits the crime...

Yes, but I'm not really concerned about that anymore...as long as I'm not expected to be civil about it.

www.amsrentsline.com is run by UBC and is quite good. Lots of people will be moving out of their apartments around that time.

What are you looking for, and what's your price range?
My Landlady runs quite a few places and I've got a pretty good relationship with her. Also, I live downtown (obviously) and see alot of places go up and get rented right away, whereas some will stick around for about a month. I found walking around to be the best bet, so I can be on the lookout if you are interested in the West End.

My experience in Vancouver is that rent is pretty resonable and there are tons of places, especially in May when UBC is out...lots of basement suites in West of Alma for rent..I own a place in Vancouver and have had to help friends with places and let me tell you there was never a shortage of people looking...been to veiwing for complete dumps with at least 15 people there....if you spend the time to look you can find a sweet deal

Thanks a bunch for all the suggestions guys. It's appreciated.
As for me, I'm looking to live in East Van; the closer to Broadway and/or Commercial, the better (I just love the area).
I'm moving with a buddy, and we've set our price range at $1000-$1200. We're leaning towards a basement suite (it's easier to negotiate the possibility of being able to play musical instruments once a week when you share a building with 2-3 people rather than 30-40+).

East Van eh? Good choice Anything near Main and Broadway or Commercial and Broadway are good choice. Cafes/bars/culture/local music/skytrain/close to downtown/affordable/etc.
If you come out to look for some places on foot, there's usually some good listings at Kingsgate Mall. There's a funky rental complex at 575 E. 5th Ave, I can grab their number if you want.
You shouldn't have too many problems getting a 2 bedder for $900-$1100 around here.
