Default Format Change - California 103 no longer - XL Returns

From the sounds and looks of it, California 103 has changed format from what turned out to be elevator music, to another mix of older hits, and a name from the past, XL, today it seems.

No "rainbow" anymore on the logo, not a surprise.

The people at the place I get my haircut will be devastated.

Though I think they were the only four listeners the station had.

Damnit, I loved 103 when it was the Breeze and California. Where else are you going to get great jazz and chillout music all the time. @^#@&%$^%$^&!@#&!#$^&

I want a chillout lounge station. Every song is relaxing, you don't get stupid top 40 repeats because there's no such thing. Just good music by real musicians. We have Jack, Q107, and the Eagle 100.9, do we really need another bloody 70s, 60s, 80s retro Value Village station? #!@%$#^&#$^$#@ I am REALLY ANGRY

My manager will be heartbroken, California was the only station he would listen to.

I think everybody's mom will be happy. It's the only thing my mom would listen to on the radio. Now the people in Drumheller have a choice other then Country Music.

EDIT- NM you said FM dial. CRAP!

I'm heartbroken enough not to want to drive anymore. I drive to relax, flip on 103 or CBC in the middle of the night for some chillout jazz. Not feel like I'm driving through a 70s thrift store which checking out XL's lineup...is basically what it's going to be.

Damnit, I'm depressed.

Strikes me as a clone of JackFM, although I haven't listened to Jack in months so I may be wrong.

This marks the end of a hope I had that a jazz station would work here in Calgary. 103.1 went from jazz to 'smooth jazz' to elevator, to 60's and 70's. I guess this just proves that the CRTC is pretty toothless when it comes to putting different formats into a market. I wonder how long the new 'folk' station that is suppose to open soon will go before playing Rod Steward and Reo Speedwagon themselves.

Don't turn that dial music fans, coming soon to Calgary radio, thanks to the CRTC and the Calgary radio market, we know what Calgarians love to hear. Awesome new bands like you've never heard before on the brand new XL 103!

Honeymoon Suite, Glass Tiger, Triumph, Platinum Blonde, Loverboy, Rush, Haywire, Harlequinn, Men Without Hats, Corey Hart, Bryan Adams, Strange Advance, 54-40, The Headpins, One 2 One, Gowan and more! Over and over and over again!!!

...slinks off to practice the riff from "Triumph's Follow Your Heart (You've gotta follow your follow your follow you heart)" in preparation for the revolution that the magic of XL 103 and Cancon is going to bring to Calgary's airwaves.

You clearly forgot to include Luba and Gino Vanelli.
<--- Obviously also works at one of these such stations....and subsequently feels shame.

there's a few dedicated Jazz stations on Sirius. after having it for over a year now and actually being able to listen to a 100% METAL radio station, there is no way i could ever go back. i'm also getting quite addicted to the 90's Alternative channel, nothing brings back teenage memories like some 311 or Pearl Jam

I can't imagine what ground a new folk station would cover that isn't already covered by CKUA and CJSW.

I know it doesn't work in the car, but with iTunes/winamp/shoutcast/every radio station in North America streaming now/ you can find pretty much any format you want on the "radio", provided you are near the computer. I spend a fair amount of time sitting here, so I haven't bothered with a local radio station (save sports stuff) for a long time.
