Default What does 'nm' mean?

I see it all the time in threads .. I assume it means "no message" but why bother posting that? I don't get it.

Somebody explain!

I always assumed it was "never mind" because it's usually posted as an edit when the person either accidentally double-posted, or changed their mind after posting something.

I guess "no message" would work too.

It's both, most of the time it is never mind, however, there are some posts that you used to see on older message boards where the title was the entire messagem hence the no message version

And just to add to that, often what the poster wanted to say was all said in the title of the thread, so you would see, "The Oilers are a joke!(nm)" and that meant you didn't need to click on the post because there was nothing else to see.

On CP, I tend to see it if there was accidentally a double posting so the one is deleted and just "nm" replaces it, or sometimes when somebody has posted something but then later decides to remove it.

I usually use it when I delete what I originally posted.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

I always thought "no message" was denoted by "/nt" as in "no text". I've only ever seen nm used as an acronym for nevermind.

Whenever I've used it, I've intended it to mean 'no message'. Sometimes however I will be referring to New Mexico.
