Default Canada : Olympic Qualifying Soccer

There's a HUGE match tonight! Winner take all for a trip to Beijing.

But I don't think it's on tv anywhere

GO CANADA!

Fox Sports World Ch 113 on Shaw.

Unlike what Dasovic says, this will not have quite the same signifigance as the improbable Gold Cup win in 2000, but it is necessary to keep soccer on the sports radar in this country until '10 WC Qualifying.

The huge upset was that Mexico was held to a 1-1 draw. I'd be disappointed too if I was him.

Canada really puts zero effort in being a football nation, and one really can't expect much, which is shameful.

True dat.

Given that Canada has higher levels of enrolment in soccer than hockey among both males and females, and is a wealthy 1st world nation, it's pretty sad we can't compete with anyone but the minnows on the world stage. There's no real reason (besides underfunding and mismanagement) we shouldn't be in the top 40 soccer playing nations in the world on a consistent basis.
