Modry and Kozlov head to the North East
In a deal completed late last night after a long drawn out process the Nashville Predators shipped Viktor Kozlov and Jaroslav Modry to the Quebec Nordiques.
In return for the two pending UFA's the Predators receive Denis Seidenberg and John Negrin. "Chances are that Kozlov and Modry were not to be re-signed here, and this way we get two solid young players back in return. Negrin is a blue-chip prospect, and Seidenberg is a solid talent as well" said GM Slava.
Also involved in the deal was $5.15 million going to Quebec this season, and ECHL player Jakub Vojta. The ECHL inclusion was purely to make the roster numbers work. The Preds and Nords also swapped 2010 picks, with Nashville acquiring the Nords 2nd for the Preds 3rd in that year.
There are still a few players who are coveted by some playoff squads in Nashville. As the deadline approaches there are expected to be a few deals in music city as the Predators fail to make the playoffs this season.
