Oilers Prospect Summary
The Oilers don't have much left, after previous GMs turned the league's best prospect group into the current roster of stars. Stealing Jeff's format again...
Goaltending;
(1) Matt Keetley (first year in AHL)
(2) Mark Guggenberger (Junior)
(3) Pier-Olivier Pelletier (Junior)
Comments; These guys are all a long way away from becoming NHLers, so the Oilers will try to hold on to Martin Brodeur for as long as possible. Keetley has been a top rookie netminder in the AHL this season, and Guggenberger has posted three shutouts in six games after being traded to Swift Current.
Defense;
(1) Jamie McBain (Sophomore, Wisconsin)
(2) Denis Kulyash (Russia)
(3) Johan Fransson (Sweden)
(4) Darcy Campbell (first year in AHL)
Comments; This group kind of sucks, but McBain shows a lot of promise as he was one of the top blueliners for USA at the WJC.
Forwards;
(1) Michael Grabner (first year in AHL)
(2) Marc-Antoine Pouliot (third year in AHL)
(3) Hugh Jessiman (third year in AHL)
(4) Corey Tropp (freshman, Michigan State)
(5) Johannes Salmonsson (Sweden)
(6) Viktor Alexandrov (Russia)
Comments; This group also isn't very good. Grabner is playing well as a rookie in the AHL, and should make the NHL Canucks at some point. Pouliot and Jessiman are former first rounders still toiling in the AHL. No one else is really close to making the NHL at this point.
Other Prospects worth mentioning
Oh, there are other prospects but they are not worth mentioning.
