Tampa Prospect Review
Tampa Bay Prospects. Stealing Jeff's format again...
Goaltending;
(1) Jhonas Enroth (Sweden)
(2) Corey Crawford (AHL)
(3) Jeff Frazee (NCAA)
Comments; All three of these guys have NHL potential. Enroth was between the pipes for the Swedes at this year's WJC. Crawford should be ready to step up soon as he has a couple seasons of the A under his belt. Frazee will likely be backing up Marty Brodeur in a season or two.
Defense;
(1) Alexander Elder (NHL Vancouver)
(2) Matt Lashoff (AHL)
(3) Luc Bourdon (AHL)
(4) Keaton Ellerby (WHL)
(5) Ian Cole (NCAA)
(6) Mark Mitera (NCAA)
Comments; This six pack has the potential to spawn 2-3 top 4 dmen and we expect all six to see NHL time within a couple of seasons. Edler has arrived on the scene and has impressed. The others still need to refine their game at the minor pro level.
Forwards;
(1) Brandon Dubinsky (NHL NYR)
(2) Claude Giroux (recent call up to PHI from the Q)
(3) Micheal Frolik (QMJHL)
(3) Robbie Schremp (AHL)
(4) Drew Miller (AHL)
(6) Niklas Bergfors (AHL)
(7) Andreas Nodl (NCAA)
(8) Kevin Porter (NCAA)
(9) Ryan OMarra (AHL)
(10) Ryan White (AHL)
Comments; The forward prospect pool is pretty deep. Brandon Dubinsky is having a solid season with the NYR. The other prospects boast impressive junior / college stats and are preparing to make the jump to the NHL in the next couple of seasons. We expect Giroux and Frolik to become big time players in the NHL. The rest of the group should develop a couple of 2nd line players with most of them getting a taste of the show at some point.
Other Prospects worth mentioning
Dan Bertram, Tomas Zaborsky, Keith Seabrook, Mike Morris should all have a shot at their NHL dream but have more obstacles to overcome than the other top Lightning prospects.
