Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares is Back (Brit version)
As a cure for the Writer's Strike doldrums, I see that Season 5 of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares is back on Food Network. Note that this is the proper British version and not the lame-o US version. You can totally see the difference in the two shows - Ramsay is much more patient and works with the Chef, Owner, and Front of house - no yelling and screaming. Far more interesting that the US version.
Ruby Tate's was the opener - good episode with an odd Nathan Lane like owner. It's also interesting to see that they'll be revisiting La Parra de Burriana and the Fenwick Arms again...

I watched it and I loved it.
I hated the American version mostly because instead of it just being Ramsay talking about what's going on they had that stupid narrator trying to make everything so much more intense, and it just made the whole thing seem silly.
And man, if they are going back to the Fenwick Arms, I'll have to mark my callendar.
GO REAL GRAVY! That dude was wicked.

Great I love this version, the American version was OK but it was more about the gross factor I thought, but I did like the fact that he got in their face more.

Its very entertaining, because he seems to geniunely care about these brits, and on the US counterpart its quite the opposite.

Totally. Ramsey on the US show is like me at work. Just there for the paycheque.

The gravy thing might have taken off but I'm not so sure about the menu... still seems a bit pretentious for a "pub".

Fenwick arms episode is just a rehash of the old episode with only about 10 minutes of new footage.
I would recommend a pass on that episode. Unless you like re-runs.

I prefer the UK version simply because of the swearing. You'd think the 500th consecutive F-bomb wouldn't be as funny as the first, but you'd be wrong . . . dead wrong.

So when does (did) the 2nd season start? I have it automatically recording on the PVR and have just been deleting them.

Fair enough, but one of the best parts about the Brit version is when they go back and see how the place is doing 3 months later. 10 minutes of this would be pretty good, especially since they spend maybe 10 seconds on this in the US versions.
My PVR kicked in with the new episode - last Sunday?

Im very glad for the BBC one to be back as it is one of my favorite shows. The Fox one was just junk; one episode was enough to turn me off as it was over-produced with Fox production values.
Are the new ones on Sundays or Mondays?

A great follow up to India in the Picolo Teatro episode (watch the ep 1st).

Man I love this show. I'm in London in April and if I can, I think I'll try for dinner in one of his restaurants.
I think the new shows are on Mondays.

I watched the new show last night...it was a restaurant in Paris called Teatro Piccolo IIRC. It was awesome as usual!
