This movie was on space over the weekend so I PVR'd it. It's the second time I've seen it and only heard of it because i was looking for loose film adaptations of Orwell's 1984.

Talk about a movie that didn't get any promotion. I've been a huge bale fan since American Psycho and had never heard of this movie, they did a HUGE disservice. Considering the tripe that gets made today (Aeon Flux)I have to believe even with moderate marketing this movie would have been a success.

Fantastically badass and the "Gun Kata" scenes are brilliant. I definitely recommend it.

I also saw this movie for the 1st time recently and really enjoyed it despite the fact that there is hardly an original idea in the whole movie. a good ripoff of about a dozen other movies though.

sure it borrows, but compared to most sci-fi movies I think it holds it's own quite well. Kind of odd that it received very little exposure.

It was a really good movie. I think it came out the same weekend as the Matrix or right around the same time and got lost in they hype.

I love this movie, and Christian Bale. I actually just bought Equilibrium off Amazon. It's easily one of my favorites.

Yeah, I own it on DVD also. It was a great movie.

If you're looking for a 1984 type movie, try 1984. I own that on DVD as well. Really tough to find now, but it's a decent adaptation of the novel.

Book is better though.

Sean Bean is great, always does a good job playing the troubled characters.

And then Robert the Bruce shows up at the end... what the!

The final 15 minutes are soooo bloody awesome. I used to work at a pretty shady video store, we used to watch that scene over and over and whenever a customer would watch it, they would ask what movie it was and they picked it up themselves. AWESOME FLICK!!!

Ya, that is a really good film. I also found it well after the fact of its release. I'm not sure, either, why it wasn't better advertised.

I loved the point about art and emotion. The idea that art taps into something human that cannot (or will not) be governed, was fascinating. And Christian Bale was awesome, as always.

That part is outstanding! Haha, yeah, the movie is/was a total sleeper but is definitely more deserving of some attention and hype.

Does anyone actually teach GunKata (the fighting style they used in the movie)?

Gunkata doesn't work in real life. You'd get shot before you could think of dodging the bullets. You also couldn't do Gunkata with the recoil of normal guns.

7.8 rating on IMDB, which is pretty good for that site.

I don't know why I haven't seen this movie, but it sounds good.

It's been sitting in my Netflix queue for a while, maybe it's time to bump it up to the top. I've been so irritated with the sad state of sci-fi these days, looking forward to being surprised.
