Nedved moves down the block

Petr Nedved has been traded to the Quebec Nordiques along with a suitcase of cash for Tomas Plihal, a guy who has managed to stay on the San Jose roster for 10 games now.

Nedved has the Leadership that playoff teams like to see going into the playoffs. Hopefully this will help Rob out in making the playoffs. The Habs are on the cusp of making it but still have a ways to go. We don't mind making this deal as Nedved is playing on our 4th line anyways.

I'm happy about getting an asset in return for Nedved, who's NHL days are pretty much numbered. Plihal is a bit of a gamble, but it's a risk we were willing to take.

Good move for both sides. Nords get someone who will help this year and Curtis gets an asset for a guy who is likely done in the NHL.

With the injury bug I've experienced this season, adding a player like Nedved was a no-brainer. He fit in the slightly expensive contract UFA player that at the end of the season will not be on our books.

Tough to lose a young player with NHL experience, but I'm looking at cracking into the CPHL Playoffs for the first time since taking on an expansion team. That cloud, combined with the fact that the Jets did it year one, has hung over my head for the past 2 seasons.

I can't answer for next year, but I'd like to make it into the post season this year. I thought it was a guarentee after the start I had, but injuries killed my squad.

Now this is an old time CPHL trade. Guy who's still got a rating but no longer in the NHL going for a guy who's got a low rating but is in the league and the money. Both teams get something out of it.
