Default Fool's Gold

This is a warning to all fellow male posters with girlfriends. DO NOT UNDER CIRCUMSTANCE LET YOUR GIRLFRIEND/WIFE/MISTRESS TAKE YOU TO SEE THIS MOVIE!!! What a complete steaming pile of crap. This made Spider-man 3 seem like a masterpiece.

I sat through two hours of this mess because I got whined at about how I never go to anything that she likes (totally unfounded) and I was literally wishing I had OD'd on heroin before we got to the theatre. Worst part about it? I didn't even get laid out of the deal.

On another note, Matthew McConaughey is garbage in everything he's ever done. Seriously, has he ever been in anything good besides Dazed & Confused?

Did the person who never gave you any sex like the movie?

(you never mentioned if it was your girlfriend/wife/sister)

Girlfriend, and yes she did. Mind you she couldn't describe why she liked the movie and I think she just said she liked it because I told he I didn't want to go see it and knew it was going to be bad before we went in.

Before I went in I thought it was just going to be your typical bad chick flick/romantic comedy. When the movie was over she asked if it was as bad as I thought it was going to be and I was 100% honest when I told her it was a million times worse than I could've possibly imagined.

A Time to Kill was a good movie, but other than that and Dazed, yeah Matthew McConaughey has been craptastic.

I thought he was good in Contact. He seemed like one of those actors that actually could have had a respectable career, but he took the downwards turn into terrible chick flick and predictable comedy oblivion.

Didn't mind him in that sports betting movie... Two For The Money? Pachino carried him for most of it, but wasn't the cool customer idiot he plays in most of the other movies...

Thank you! I've been trying to remember the title of that movie for a couple months now and kept forgetting to look it up. It was a really cool movie.

The woman is going to be in for a very rude awakening at the next movie she tries to drag me to. Her big mistake was not putting out afterwards. The only chance she has of me ever going to another movie like this is if I'm promised a menage a trois with Scarlett Johnansson afterwards. She can try "witholding" but I would've rather gone without sex for three months than sat through this filthy ###### of a movie.

It's entirely possible that this ends up being the worst week of the year for movies, between this, The Hottie and the Nottie (already the tenth-worst reviewed movie of all-time on metacritic), Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins, and Wild West Comedy Show (the last of which may not be entirely crap, but it's pretty sad for a best movie of the weekend).

It's your own fault that you didn't have a good time. You should have just cut the hole in the bottom of the popcorn bag place on your lap and well you know how the rest goes, makes a bad movie seem a lot more bearable ... Win Win situation

Reviews of bad movies can be very funny (and this might be the worst-rated movie of the year):

It's early in the year, but I defy any 2008 comedy to be as stupid, slack and sexless as Fool's Gold. - Peter Travers

You feel embarrassed for everyone involved and sorry for anyone who spends money on a ticket expecting a decent date movie. - Tom Long

Frailty was good... but he wasnt exactly "in" the movie. It was Bill Paxton and the two kids.

The Hottie and the Nottie grossed $25 000 on its opening weekend.
