Read the first post and you'll want to continue....

It's not a hockey forum so I hope it's fine to link it...

Another good read

I don't know. The blatant misuse of the apostrophe has me wondering if that guy really knows what he is talking about...

What exactly is the point you're making, or are you just posting these links to show that some people do think very strange things?

It's true. Just the other day someone told me that the Earth is not 7000 years old.

Of course not. That's ridiculous. It's 6000 (give or take).

My goodness, I just about a heart attack reading that first OP.

The apostrophe usage is possibly the worst I have ever seen in my life.

In a 135 word OP, he has managed to use NINE apostrophes where there should be ZERO! Not a single one!

And for what it's worth, his assertion that we cross the galactic plane in a few years is truly ridiculous.

Any idea what the period of our oscillation through the galactic plane is? First you need to know what the period of our orbit around the centre of the galaxy is.

It's actually an interesting calculation which is not too too intense. I'll include it below for anybody interested (already had it posted on another forum, no extra effort required).

But ya, we're going through in 2012 alright, given that that 7:1 harmonic results in a period of some 30 million years! And for what it's worth, we are millions of years from even being close to crossing the plane.

And yes, one could obviously dismiss this dolt out of hand. But I would rather stuff the physics down his throat!

Although the math is quite rudimentary, I think it proves his point. Neat that such a simple calculation can prove or disprove some idiots rant.

Which, if you look closely, also means that the Earth is not crossing the galactic plane, but rather running right smack into it. Luckily, by 2012 they'll have those new graphite shell hockey helmets, so just remember to wear yours.
