great actor, best remembered for his role as the police chief in Jaws. Loved that movie. "You're gonna need a bigger boat."

He filmed a war flick in the Calgary area in the late eighties or early nineties.
Rest In Peace, Roy.

This is always how I'll remember him. That and a red button marked "LIVE" that controlled the gatling gun...

I saw All That Jazz as a kid (probably too young), and have been a big fan of Roy's ever since. The French Connection , Seven-Ups , Marathon Man ...
So sad.

Jaws, Seaquest, and his guest appearance on Third Watch, as you say, was stellar. That was a great storyline.
RIP

I recall growing up, every once in a while the news would report someone's passing and I never knew who they were. Now that I'm (much) older, and now that there are so many TV channels/shows and so much "celebrity", it seems like a week doesn't go by without someone who was famous at some point passing away.

Also Seaquest and The French Connection. That's nuts, he never seemed very old at all to me.

Have you people no respect for the dead? Let Seaquest die!!!
As far as I'm concerned, everybody actor gets a "gimmie" gig at some point, and Scheider's is Seaquest.
Therefore, Seaquest never happened.

No.
No its not.
Nobody can blame you for that. Many people quite likely commend it.

After watching Jaws every time I swam in the ocean I always had that darn music in my head. Swimming was just never the same after that! I remember Scheider in 2010 too. (Not a patch on 2001 but I still really enjoyed him in that movie.)
RIP Roy...
