Default Mala fide online store; trying to get my money back

So here's the deal: I was looking for a mod chip on the internet for my DS so that I could download and play cracked games on it; I know a couple of people that have one and they're outstanding. Against my own sceptical judgement, I ordered one on a site I've never heard of before; www.modchip.com; which offered the chip at the best price, however they only had them on back order. I considered the site to be legit, so I paid by credit card, and expected them to ship within a month as stated on their site.

This was in October.

I still have not received anything, and my repetitive emails asking about the situation, which eventually turned into emails demanding my money back, have not been answered. They do not have a telephone number. I'm feeling quite ripped off.

Does anyone else have experience with a bogus online purchase, or have any advice what I have to do to get my money back? Could I contact Mastercard and see what they can do for me? Any help is much appreciated.

They shouldn't have really even charged your card until it shipped (though some stores do).

Yup, just call the CC company and do a chargeback, they'll probably ask for all the info like the website, copies of your invoice and communications with them, all that sort of thing, they'll try and contact them to resolve it, and if they can't then they'll refund your $$.

And next time, be a little more diligent in your research. Found this link after a couple seconds of searching on google.
http://www.resellerratings.com/store/ModChip

As others mentioned, contact Mastercard and have them reverse the charge.

So you got ripped off trying to buy something that would let you play cracked games...

Hehe, I was wondering when someone would (finally) bring that up. Obivously I was thinking that I got scammed by my own selfishness, but still, it's a matter of principle. At least I'm admitting to my act of copying games, this sites pretends to be legit and steals your money.

Thanks for that diligence link; I was somewhat amazed as to how terribly this site is rated, but on the other hand, no I'm not, obviously. I am amazed that I didn't check them out myself first. I purchase quite a bit on internet, but usually from the bigger sites. Still, goes to show: e-buyer beware.

There are legit reasons to buy one of these as well, the biggest being that you can carry around many games on one memory card instead of having to carry around each game on a separate cartridge.
