Major police incident at UBC

Don't know any of the details yet. But apparently there is an incident at the biological sciences buildigns. We noticed police helicopters flying over the campus. We've now been asked to remain inside the law building until things are resolved.

Crazy...

I hope it is just an over reaction to something minor. I'm hoping not a shooting of some kind or real bomb threat.

A major police operation is ongoing at the University of British Columbia and police are warning students to stay away from the Biological Science Building.

nothing yet. None of the major news sources are reporting anything either. We are still not supposed to leave the building though. I will post as soon as I hear about anything else.

Apparently an email threat came in to the university and police have responded with dog teams, the Emergency Response Team, the Explosive Disposal Unit and a helicopter. They also have major crime investigators from the University RCMP detachment and E Division Major Crime officers.

Police are scheduled to release more information about what exactly is going on within the hour. In the meantime, staff and students have been told to stay where they are.

That's the same bulletin that has been posted on all the exists of the building. If it is just an email threat I'm guessing it's just a false alarm.

Ha. I had him for a class last year. If this situation requires a ridiculously in depth knowledge of Greek philosophy to resolve, he is definitely the person I am turning to.

Hmm...does it bother anyone that I was about to leave for class at UBC and only found out about this because I was checking for flames trades/gdt before class?

Wait, let me guess.

It'll turn out it is just an idle and poorly worded email threat that caused local law enforcement to massively overreact costing thousands of dollars, and wasting everyone's time because some kid didn't want to write a mid term exam.
