Ducks minor deal with leafs

Chris Kelly
Colby Cohen 7.0D

To the Leafs:
Marc Andre Bergeron

This deal was done because we wanted another forward, we dont need bergeron playing 5-6 minutes and we were skeptical with his insanely low DF (though he is a good pp specialist). Kelly we hope to resign next year at a low price and thus save some money on bergers contract. Cohen is an interesting prospect, 2nd round pick out of colorado, has some good potential but still a long ways from doing anything in the NHL.

The Leafs were very happy with the way Chris Kelly played this season and he's going to be a solid player to have down the road. But Bergeron is a very good offensive defenseman and still getting better. And more importantly he gives us more flexibility to make deals. Odds are either Bergeron, Carle, or Havelid will be moved this season so now we can do that without suffering much on the blueline.
