I have got a trip to Mexico for a wedding coming up in January and was wondering if it's too late to purchase cancelation insurance. I've already paid for the trip.

My grandfather has been hospitalized and is well... not wanting to fight the good fight anymore.

Let's pretend your second sentence was not there.

You can purchase insurance up to 3 days prior. If you have a reason to cancel before you buy that would be bad. As of tomorrow morning when you purchase your insurance you do not have a reason to cancel. You may have at some time in the future but then you always may have and that is why they call it insurance.

In case I have not been clear. Do NOT mention your grandfather in your conversation with the insurance agent.

Thanks. I am pretty sure my Mastercard covers me but now with my grandfather in the hospital I need to make sure tomorrow. I always buy health insurance because I like to have a policy number rather than a credit card in my pocket.
