We use Sears in South Centre. The staff is very friendly and are great with kids. The only problem is that the pictures actually get developed in toronto, so it takes 3 - 4 weeks to get them. We just some done last week and it was $8 for the first 5 sheets and $5 for every sheet after that. They have a $15 sitting fee as well, but that can be waived by purchasing their membership thing.
Pogo-pix does some really cool stuff, but you are looking at $250 and up there.

We used Kidsphoto in Market Mall. Went there for a couple of sittings. I think they had a deal where you could get three sessions for $100 (or thereabouts). We went with individual sessions. You get a free 8x10. If things don't work out at one of your sessions (our kid screamed the whole time once) they book you in for a re-shoot for free.
Ordering pics is probably pricey. I'm sure the prices are on their website.

we've done the retail and professional bit.
The retail photos are cheap but IMO little more than school photos - kinda neat to see the kids change in them, but the individual photos themselves are not much different then what you take at home.
Night and day difference with a real photographer on quality. but also on price. Count on at least $500.

Check out MacKenzie Towne Photographer. Decent price, great pro photos and very professional. Flexible schedule as well (stayed open late on night to accommodate our schedule).

Canadian baby Photographers...
They send someone to your house to do a few and take a few more.
You always end up buying more than the package.
I still can't get my boys to smile like that guy did.
Oh yeah ......CONGRATS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yah, I saw the price of the packages. Then I saw how many my wife was ordering. Then I went and bought a coffee and tried to think about something else.

I can't second this one. We bought the full deal for our first and it was about $600. The pictures are nice and all, but I do think that for that kind of cash you could do a lot better...

My wife!!!!
She's a professional photographer in Red Deer. However, she's expecting our latest child any day now so is, unofficially, on self-imposed maternity leave.
Obviously, I would recommend going with a professional photographer. Go with somebody that has extensive samples of their work. Price can vary dramatically. You can check the Alberta Professional Photographers website which offers links to members websites. Note: not every good professional photographer is a member of the APPA though. Some, like my wife who was a member for a while, do not see the benefit in it.

Good luck and congratulations!

We used www.thislife.ca and were really happy with the results...cost would be <$200
She comes to your house and takes care of it all...
Let me know if you want to go this route and I can see if she will give you a deal...

That seems like an unbelieveable deal. And the photos look pretty decent too.

We did a pre-natal and post-natal package for ~$400, so I assume that if you only need post-natal then the cost would be halved...prices are on the website, and are about in that ballpark
She was really good...
