CPHL Game of the Week
Leafs 1 - Zetterberg 3
The Oilers extended their winning streak to seven games thanks to Henrik Zetterberg's hat trick over the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs on Day 89. Zetterberg scored in the first minute of the 1st and 2nd periods before scoring the insurance marker at 5.05 of the 3rd period to secure Edmonton's victory in front of a nationwide audience for the CPHL game of the week. Simon Gagne assisted on all three goals, none of which was scored on the powerplay. In fact the Oilers powerplay was an anemic 0 for 6, and the line of Kotalik-Lecavalier-Iginla was held to a shocking 1 shot only. Nevertheless, Zetterberg's line stepped it up and Martin Brodeur shut the door to draw the Oilers within one point of the Chicago Blackhawks for the Howe Conference lead. The Oilers face the red hot Wings today with a fatigued blueline. Hopefully the offence will be firing on all cylinders just in case a lot of goals against are allowed.
