Default Telus Phone Options...

Who was the telus insider we had here at CP ?

My 7 year old dropped my LG8100 tonight and it no longer worky..

Its about a year and a half old and I was wondering what options I had if any.

Other than that anyone have a newer cheap telus phone for sale ??

I can re-activate my old LG 4600 if I have to....

Depends how long your contract was. Telus is really stringent on giving away discounts lately. They'd likely only give you $100 off on a new three year. However, you may be eligible for our replacement offer of a Samsung U410 for $80. Otherwise, get a Pay and Talk starter kit for $100 and you got a brand new phone at half the cost of replacement, though your selection is limited.

Yes you can. The Grey Motorola w385 is $99.99 and I have been recieving good feedback on that phone. There is also the pink Samsung a720 for $99.99, which is also good. I do not recomend the m210 for $69.99 - the phone is a POS.

I would buy from the TELUS website

Here are a couple good cheaper phones. Make sure you avoid the v710. The Pink Samsung a840 is the best bet here for $59.99.

please note this link here is for refurbs. From my experience th refurbs are in perfect condition.

I have an offer to buy a used one on another site.

It has the mp3 player and camera which is what I had on my LG8100.

My v710 is an excellent phone but terrible camera and not such a good mp3 player. It seems to have a mind of its own and decides when some features will work and when they won't. But like I say, if you're only going to use it as a phone, which is where I sit, it's a really good device.

It's almost 3 years old now though, so I imagine those types of issues would have been ironed out since then.

From my experience about one out of two had charging problems. If motorola didn't change to the mini-usb style charger on the RAZR I would never have sold another Motorola. I would avoid the v710 and go for the w385 if I were you.

I had the first digital one and it was the best phone I ever owned. I would still use it had the main board in it not caught fire.

you're getting a lot more phone w/ the samsung, featurewise anyways. Wonder why it only comes in pink though?

I worked as a sales rep for telus mobility for 2 years. The motorolas always have excellent reception. If you are just looking for a phone w/out the extra features the motorola is a pretty safe bet.

Depends a lot on how big your montly bills are too. If you have been w/ telus that long and are a year or less from the end of your next contract, they should offer you an early renewal.

I think I'm just gonna get something to get me by for the next year or so.

I was looking at switching providers next time anyway.

I'm tired of having a phone and not being able to use all of its features.

Turns out I need a new battery.

Somehow the impact from being dropped only damaged the battery connections.

Anyone have a hook-up for a LG8100 battery ???

I've found eBay the cheapest for batteries. However spend the extra $2 and get one that is the official battery for your phone, not the off brand. Some of them work OK, but others- not so much.

60 bux at battery world here in calgary.

E-bay scares me though.too much crap on there.

And paying more for shipping that for the item itself is a travesty.

That being said, I'll definitely have a look.

Did a quick search on ebay.ca using the following terms:
"lg 8100 battery oem"

Looks like with shipping most people want $11-12. Those are "Buy It Now" prices so no worries about the auction ending higher. Pick a seller with 99.9% or higher feedback, and pay with Paypal.

PM me if you want me to scrutinize any particular auction for you.

Great reception, but they are pieces of crap. I'm on my 4th one in 2 years (no I'm not a sucker that keeps going back for more, it's just if you have to pick between a free KRZR or a free base model plastic cased phone with no external display, you take another motorola no matter how bad they suck). My friend lives in Europe and works for the company that does the software and wap sites for a lot of the providers over there, and she usually has about 8 phones at a time for testing and agrees that Motorolas are crap. She swears by Sony Erickson.

Be very very careful buying batteries off of ebay. There are lots of counterfeits and they can explode.
