University: Lost Credit
I was accepted to go to the UofL as a transfer student from MRC this fall. I have been attending UofL since September now. Back in July when I was officially accepted to attend the UofL, they sent me a letter stating that I would receive 43.5 transfer credits. I was already a little bummed at that, as I was not receiving all of the credits I obtained while I was at MRC. However, this was still more than the other school I applied to, the UofA, which would have gave me 37 credits. For those unfimiliar, each course generally gives you 3 credits. So originally UofL gave me credit for 2 more classes than UofA did.
Just a few days ago, I receieved in the mail a letter stating that they revised my transfer credit and removed 3 credits on me. Originally they had given me credit for 2 different yet similar courses, and they transfered to the UofL as the same course. So on my transcript, it looked like I simply had taken the same course twice.
I'm wondering if anyone knows for sure if they are allowed to do this? How should I go about getting my credit back? Obviously, redoing another course will cost me ~$1,000 and 4 months time. Something I do not want to do. I'm thinking either setting up an appointment or emailing the dean of admissions who sent me the recent letter. What I would like is some pointers on word/phrase choice.
At this point I have been tottally upset with the education I have been given at the UofL, and wish that I had gone to the UofA instead. Especially now that the credit I would have received is nearly similiar. /rant
Thanks!
