probably because you weren't in the +50 group like the rest of us last year. i'm expecting a slight increase in value with a slight decrease in total taxes cause i think they over compensated in our area last year.

edit*

from the list 2/3rds in my community are going down 1/3rd up.

yeah... It was quite undervalued last year being a new community and all... Not gonna be pretty this year. 10% decreasing 90% increasing..

Don't count on checking the site this morning. The time on the message on the web site keeps changing. Originally, it was supposed to be available at 8:00AM.

BTW, just because your assessed value goes up does not mean your taxes go up. The tax rate gets adjusted downward to reflect the increase in average property values.

Preliminary data released by the City last month indicated that most people will see very little increase in their taxes. Those hit hardest will be in newer communities in the North East and to a lesser extent the far South. People living in the inner city will actually see a decline in taxes... Property values in the Kensington-Sunnyside type areas have not increased as fast as overall prices in the city, which may actually come as somewhat of a surprise.

Thats excatly right... I'm in one of thoes communites in the deep south, so the average increase in Assessed value has jumped substantially seeing as most of the assements last year were for "Builder purchase" price. So last year you guys were subsiding my property taxes... looks like this year I'll be paying my fair share back

Down forever now. From my desk here I can see the city's IT department rifling through the dumpster behind City Hall looking for their backup tapes.

We are currently experiencing technical difficulties.
We apologize for the inconvenience and encourage you to check back later to review your property assessment value.

That's not a very good place to store backup tapes.

My guess is so that they thought Sally Housecoat and Johnny Lunchpail reads about it in Saturday morning's paper and goes online over the weekend, spreading out the demand on the servers.

And since there's no way the City Union would have allowed IT guys to flick the switch on Saturday without triple time and a half, it starts Friday.

Yes, it is working now... Unfortunately, I think the assessment of my home is now well above market value. There are better homes on my street listed for less that are not selling.
