Big Ben, I think hes the most overrated player in history.
However Reggie Bush and Ben are all young players that they can still get better.
How about older over-rated players

Ben isn't overrated to me, nobody thinks he's the best QB ever, and that's not his hype, but he does generally play within his limits and makes good reads (last year notwithstanding)
Reggie isn't living up to his #3 overall status, but he has been banged up all year, and without Duece isn't being used properly.
To me some of the overrated players lately are Deion Branch, Shaun Alexander, Tony Romo and JaMarcus Russel

Branch is definetly one... I dont think Romo is overrated, he is pretty good. Shaun Alexander has been pretty good but has stumbled lately..
Another one, While Shockey is good, i think he isnt as great as people say...

I don't think you can say one way or the other on Russel as he hasn't even played much yet.

I think it is difficult to determine whether Jamarcus Russell is overrated since he has not seen much game time. Though, that could be an indictment in itself that he is not able to crack the lineup on a team that is less than stellar at QB.
He was not a world beater at LSU, and made a few boneheaded plays, he also won quite a few games for them with gutsy throws/runs at critical times.
As far as overrated players, Reggie would have to bee seen as one right now. He is being misused due to Deuce being injured. As a Saints fan, I hope they can get it together next season and fit him in the appropriate scheme for his talents.
My #1 overrated player is Vick, though he is not a concern at the moment.
Many of the players I see as not living up to their potential have curcumstances surrounding them that may lead to them not beng as successful as they should be. S.Smith, Santana Moss, Lavernaues Coles, Alge Crumpler, all have issues with QB's, injuries, or underperforming offenses.

The only way Reggie Bush wouldnt be overrated is if his name was Jesus. The hype and expectations he came in with were simply unrealistic. Though he still does belong on this list for now, as almost two years later he still looks hesitant to hit the hole and dances too much before committing to a certain spot. I think getting Deuce back will help a ton(or some other capable starting N/S type runner, if Deuce's career is in fact over), as Reggie has always had that bullish runner to play off of, even back in college with LenDale.
Another name I'd add to this list is DeAngelo Hall. Supposedly one of the great young shutdown corners in this league, I've seen him get beat way too many times this year, and too much immaturity(with his meltdowns. Remember the Steve Smith incident? And then Petrino on the sidelines?) for him to be rated as high as he is.

My first thought was Vick ... but since he's not playing I disqualified him.
He is the most overrated in a decade though. He was a coach killer, one dimensional and despite always having a strong running game around him, with Dunn, Duckett and himself he could not get the ball downfield.

I think Smith is every bit as good as he is billed. I think his poor #'s this year directly relate with the fact that the QB situation in Carolina has been a mess all year. The guy's an absolute stud.

Agreed! Smith is a top 5 reciever without question, which is why I added the QB/bad offense stipulation.
I was going to add Deangelo Hall as well, but did not want to look like too much of a homer!

I've always thought Ray Lewis was overrated. Great LB no question, but I'm not sure that he was ever the best in the league let alone the best ever which gets thrown around way too much.

Ya, that's a very good one. Good side to side range, but if you want to run the ball, run right at him.

Ray Lewis in his prime was the best player in the NFL.
He made coaches change their entire gameplan just by his presence on the field. Although he hasn't been dominant lately, the year the Ravens won the Superbowl he was the best player in the league...period.
I think Randy Moss is overrated, he's a great receiver but he's a quitter, and before coming to new england refused to go over the middle, give a half assed effort when the ball wasn't coming to him etc....
Unless I had belicheck as my head coach and the whole New England machine, I wouldn't touch moss with a 10 foot pole.

I think everyone knows that Randy is only useful in this particular scheme. It's lost on nobody that his is a quitter and a waste of talent. Therefore not overrated.
He'll go get a decent contract after this year, then continue to float.

Larry Johnson. Like any RB he needs a great O-line to run the ball and now that his team didn't have one, he was exposed. Furthermore LJ doesn't block very well, isn't a very good team player, and he's lost a step in the past couple years, and no longer has that ability to pound the opposition physically like he once did. One and a half years of a crazy heavy work loadand I think the Chiefs pretty much broke him.

Ya LJ is a good one, so is Preist Holmes. That KC line over the last several years ending in 2006 was very underrated.
