Where to buy running clothes
Looking at buying some clothes to run outside in the winter.
Went to Sport Check, ugh, what junk, so unorganized too! Crap everywhere, 100 pairs of track pants laying around that are no-name brand that'll probably last two weeks etc.
Went to the running room - ugh, my god, that stuff is UGLY!
I'm sorry - but I hate how that stuff looks - even tried on some of the stuff that gets really expensive, just awful. Tapered pants, weird shapes etc. I think it's all designed for the more slender, long body, running type. Or I'm just anal.
Lulu Lemon - sorry, standard policy that I'll never where a Lulu lemon product.
Any other suggestions?
I think I'm going to try kicks next.

Haha I have to agree on your "no Lululemon" policy(unless you're a woman. I swear those pants make every girl's butt look good), I can't believe guys actually buy those pants. Every time I see a guy wearing Lululemon pants at the gym I just shake my head.

What are you looking for? If you dont like running room, theres also Tech Shop on 4th St in Mission. Theres also Gords on Centre St N just outside of downtown. MEC also has running gear. But if you didnt like the running stuff at running room, chances are you wont like the stuff anywhere.
(You can also try winners. They often times have a lot of nice running stuff thats priced really cheap...(new balance shirts that might be $70 at running room are $25 winners.)

I LOVE my lululemon stuff! Great for running in!
Girls seem to like it too... so?
I am not trying to impress the guys so i don't really care what you guys think! lol... Your silly bias just leaves it wide open for the rest of us! (Thanks!) To be honest, i don't think it would really add-up favourably if you LIKED it when you saw guys at the gym in lululemon... what do you like checking guys out wearing at the gym BTW??

There is also Strides running room in Marda Loop (across from Original Joes). It is a small store but they usually have good stuff. I also recommend the Tech Shop on 4th (beside Wildwood).

Dude - I'm a dude!
EDITED - wow, completely misread your post - I though you were talking from a girls perspective! Which, since you're wearing Lulu Lemon stuff makes sense. All that fake seaweed/amino acids seeping into your brain
I don't notice what most guys wear, they just blend in, but I do notice Lulu Lemon stuff because I think my brain is now triggered to check it out whenever I see it. And as such, when it turns out to be a guy I have an instantaneous gag reflex

I'm surprised to hear someone not liking Running Room. I've always found the selection and customer service there to be second to none. What do you consider ugly? Almost anything is available in basic black.

They certainly do! Which actually has taken away some of the lustre of when you see that really perfect butt! Not that I don't love seeing it, but I get tricked way too often now!
As well every pair of pants girls where at the gym look the same, which is pretty dull! That black with one colour around the waist that might be at an angle. Grrr..
And yeah - guys in Yoga pants, ewww... it just makes me feel awkward and uncomfortable. I died a little inside the day I saw my dad wearing a pair around the house.

Oh the people are great!
I just wanted some running quality clothes that didn't look like running clothes
The tapered pants, the ugly jacket that 99% of the people running along the river are wearing. etc.
Also they just don't fit me well. I'm 6 foot but fairly thick. I don't need my workout clothes to make me look like a bulky odd emo kid
I do like black though!

Sportchek seems to really fluctuate between really cheap and quality brand name stuff, depending on the location and the time of year. Right now, they are more focused on winter gear... and they are always trying to pawn off the crappy Matrix and Champion brand stuff.
However, some of the better locations (like Market Mall) have some pretty decent soccer-brand running gear like Puma, Nike and Adidas, as well as the overpriced Under Armour stuff.
Aside from that, yeah, Winners is a good place to look. Sport Mart might be more of the same. Try Athlete's World and Champs... they might have some quality stuff.
I agree on Lululemon, but I don't have a problem with other guys wearing it... its just not for me. I just like Nike, Kappa and Puma brand stuff better, and I find it has a more desirable fit.

I got your back, man!
My wife had been trying to convince me to try Lululemon for a long time. I finally caved, and to my surprise, the pants I bought are pretty much the most comfortable pants I have ever worn.
I find I wear them to run, watch tv at night (yes, they are more comfortable than sweatpants), and pretty much any other situation other than work.
I love those pants.

Yeah I was at Market Mall SC. It had some of the good stuff, but in limited sizes, took forever to sift through the junk to find that stuff. No one around to help... and then I'd find a jacket I like, but no pair of pants that came remotely close to matching.
I guess that's why they're having their mix/match sale 50% of second item.
Sigh.

That's one thing I hate about Sportchek. They get such a massive supply of good product, that they have to always be an option... but finding one's size always seems to be difficult. There's this one shirt I have my eye on... I've been to three Sportcheks, and they've had small, medium, x-large and xx-large. Nice.

I always think that LuluLemon would be the stores that superheroes would go to if they needed tights. Their clothing looks good but they need a less feminine logo for their men's stuff.

Try backcountry.com or its online outlet store. They ship UPS from the states with all taxes and fees included in their standard UPS shipping.

It's not that its a matter of checking out guys, I think you just see those pants out of the corner of your eye and cant help but look, and then when it turns out to be a guy its quite disturbing. That's cool if you like em, I'm sure theyre comfy. Just a little too tapered and form fitting if you ask me, I have no desire to show off my ass when I work out. Apparently other guys disagree.

I have to suggest you go back to sportcheck and check out their under armour selection.
I coach and play rugby, and I've got under armour for pertty much any weather.
Hot, cold, really cold.
Seriously, they have a TON of sweats, pants, shorts, long/short sleve shirts, and hoodies, and it's all really good stuff.
Under armour is pretty much the Lululemon of being a guy. It's super comfy, and it does what you're looking for it to do.

I just finished a running clinic that started in September. I'm a new runner, haven't done it in years. The New Balance stuff seems the most comfortable and warmest to me. We had a few classes on some pretty cold nights and once I got going I was really comfortable. Definitely recommend the Cool Max socks.
Just did my first 5K so I'm pretty happy with myself, just have to keep going now that the weather is turning really cold, it will be harder to get myself out of the house.
