640 DUCKS 2 OILERS 8
After two losses, poor goaltending, and an injury to Vincent Lecavalier, it was time for the Oilers to get back to their old ways.
They accomplished that with a solid outing from their backup Patrick Lalime, a first star selection for Lecavalier in his return and an 8-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks.
Lecavalier (2), Craig Rivet, Patrice Bergeron, Simon Gagne, Daniel Alfredsson, Ales Kotalik, and Henrik Zetterberg all scored for Edmonton in the victory. Lecavalier had missed Edmonton's last game with an abdominal strain. Jarome Iginla was oddly silent, recording only one assist.
Patrick Lalime won his fourth straight start, kicking aside 20 of 22 shots and earning an assist on Alfredsson's powerplay tally for good measure.
Anaheim's thug patrol racked up nearly an hour's worth of penalty minutes, kicking the Oilers and highsticking Bryan Berard in his good eye. Unfortunately, the Oilers powerplay went only 2 for 10 on the powerplay--staggering considering how the Oilers dominated 5 on 5.
Tomorrow the Oilers face the lowly Jets and Patrick Lalime is expected to get another start while Brodeur continues to rest. Lalime started in the Oilers' last game versus Winnipeg and won that contest by a 2-1 score. Berard is also expected to play again, but with a special visor borrowed from the XMen's Cyclops.
