HF Oilers vs CP Yahoo Points Pool! (CP Vets Represent!)

Iowa_Flames_Fan and I have been talking and we decided it might be fun to set up a friendly points pool this year that pits 10 CP posters against 10 HF Oilers posters. The pool is going to be a standard Yahoo points pool with no trades and a maximum of five moves (like Pagal's pool) meaning the players you draft are primarily the ones you will be stuck with for the whole season.

The pool will be run like normal with one added wrinkle: 10 Oilers fans will be competing against 10 Flames fans. At the end of the season, we'll add up the score of the 10 Flames fans and 10 Oilers fans and see which side ended up doing better overall. I haven't really thought of anything prize-wise so perhaps we can just play for friendly bragging rights.

The scoring looks like this for those who are curious:

G (1), A (1), +/- (1), PIM (.25), PPG (1.5), PPA (1.5), SHG (2), SHA (2), GWG (3), SOG (.25), W (4), L (-3), GA (-1), SA (.1), SV (.1),
SHO (4)

We're primarily looking for veteran posters with decent post counts for this pool (I know it's biased but we would ideally like to see almost everyone show up for draft day) but we'll see what the level of interest is like and take it from there.

If you're interested in potentially joining, send me a PM and I can send you the ID and password for the pool. When you join, please put either (HF) or (CP) beside your name for the sake of identifying who you all are. It would also be nice if you could use your actual log-in names so we can get a sense for who we're playing against!

The draft is temporarily set for 4:30pm on Saturday the 22nd but that time and day is negotiable if enough people can't seem to make it.

one thing i might suggest from prior experience with Yahoo pools, put your +/- point scale to 0.5 instead of 1. having it worth the same as a goal or assist is pretty silly when you consider how useless the stat is compared to actual points

That's true, we're still sort of tinkering with the stat configuration as I haven't used this particular set yet. If anyone else has any stat suggestions, feel free to chime in by the way.

Two Oilers fans already in, I'm hoping we can get a full 10 from each side.

well here's the layout for the league i'm in. it's been an ongoing tinkering process for a few years now and seems to work quite well

G (2), A (1), +/- (0.5), PIM (0.25), PPP (1), SHP (1.5), GWG (1), W (2), GA (-0.75), SV (0.25), SHO (3)

You should join this one, it's totally low-maintenance as you're limited to 5 moves in the year. You can pretty much just draft your team and then leave it for the season if you want.

I only count 8 Oilers posters signed up on yahoo.... it's just like an Oilers fan to fudge the numbers a little... (just thought I'd get an early start on the smack-talk.)

Seriously, though--SebC and I can't do this on our own--particularly since I'm kind of bad at this. We need some CP hockey-pool wizzes to help us represent!
