Default Face of Canada changing?

What does this mean for the existing anglo-french based traditions?

Not real sure what this means in the long term.

Funny thing is most of the new immigrants come from warmer climates.

If Canada starts bringing in immigrants from Asia as hot as the girls in Tokyo, I look forward to this second wave of immigration. =)

I don't think it will mean a whole lot in the longterm. People forget that the mass waves of Euro's that came here weren't moving from one nice situation to another. Tons of them came because they were persecuted where they were either for their religion or because of what ethnic group they belonged to. Many like my parents came soon after World War II and just wanted the heck out of a poor country. Not to mention that one of their favorite games as kids was to track shot down German fighters.

Guess what when they got here they were very much for letting people have their own religion, rule of law, tolerance for other cultures, very much in favor of making money over other issues. Plus they found plenty of people who had arrived escaping the same things.

Now you have hordes running from the same things. Wars and poverty and governments who are not tolerant of minorities or religion.

They will fit right in.

I hope the faces aren't the only things that are changing...maybe its me, but Canadians girls tend to be a little chunkier than a lot of places around the world.

Did you see the picture of the Mountie in the red serge? "The traditional Anglo-European face of Canada is changing"

Reminds me about the comments in the debate about the long-skirt wearing bag check lady.

It's the north american eating habits.

Don't go to the mid-southern US, whatever you do.

AS far as immigration goes:

more asians = good. They work hard, contribute and don't start crap

more anything else = we'll see

Don't bet on it. When I lived in China they were already concerned with how many obese children there were. Have cash --- yep -- will eat. The Big Macs and barrels of chicken were as popular as could be. We have been fast fooding it for a lot longer but they are catching up all over the world. Then they arrive here with a taste for all things Western. Think they might put on a few pounds?

Do you remember Calgary's 2&7 anchor Nirmala Naidoo on the cover of Time Magazine, in a white stetson, with the headline, "The Changing Face Of Canada."

That was about 10 years ago. And she looked damn good.

Actually alot of the problems are non-Calgarians, and those that are are usually second-generation Canadians.

Seems to me that once they've integrated into Canada, it doesn't matter what color they are, people will join gangs. Alot of them just happend to be race-centric.

At least 95% of Asian immigrants mind their own business and are relatively polite

Thanks for the clear up. I had no idea that the members are mostly second generation Canadians, I always just thought its those rich asian kids that get sent (literally sent) here with a lot of money to get an education that join the gangs.
