I understand that this woman is obviously pretty sick. And that is unfortunate. But I don't believe there is any suitable (legal) punishment for doing something like that to a baby. Maybe we could dust off some Japanese WWII manuals on 'information gathering' techniques.

Can someone here with expertise in the field help us to understand how someone so mentally ill could be walking around looking after kids.

I'm no psychological expert but the reason why she was able to have custody of her children is simple:

There is no testing for parenthood and unless there is a complaint submitted then there is no involvement by social services.

Those factors aside, my heart was breaking as I read that article.

There is no real comment I can make about this. That is just a very sad situation. I can't even begin to understand why. That is just so sad.

Not only that but, at least around here, there have to be at least 3 seperate complaints from different people before they'll even look into seperating a child from their mother. It is considered to be extremely damaging to do this and, thus, is only done when there is DEFINITE proof the child would be better off without their parent. In the case of this mother, apparently she appeared to be a very caring and conscientious mother.

I can't understand how someone could do that to a helpless child let alone your own helpless child.

I understand that there is probably something wrong with these people but it still blows my mind. If the kid is causing you that much trouble at least give the kid up. I know that family services is not the greatest but it certainly is better than death.

Put this sucker out of her misery and pathetic life. Cut off her arms and execute her. Nothing to argue about. Just do away with her.

Well she was in Texas so, considering the possibility of a mental defense, it is probably the most likely place for her to still be executed.

I don't care what they say about her mental state I hope she fries for what she did.

I couldn't even finish reading the article. I just pictured my four month old son and that was it, I'm done.
