Ever drank from a hotel room water glass?
Maybe this will make you think twice next time...

A relative of mine quit a job in Calgary for a cleaning procedure very similar to this. The rag that cleans the sink and toilet also clean the glasses...

Well, that's pretty disgusting. I won't be using those glasses again.

Sadly, i'm not surprised. There's always marks all over glasses when I go to hotels. I just use my water bottle or drink pop from the popcan.

Aren't the glasses always sanitized and wrapped in white tissue paper?
You shouldn't worry - unless Motley Crue or the Edmonton Oilers were staying in your room before you.

Maybe in Four Seasons, I certainly haven't seen places like Sheraton and Holiday Inn do it.

Anywhere I have stayed recently had the glasses rapped in plastic. Or plastic cups wrapped in plastic.
Not surprised that this practice takes place. I think most of us would vomit and never eat anywhere but home if we saw what happened in most kitchens at restaurants as well.

come on folks
it's a hotel glass, in fairness the alcohol will kill whatever is in the glass!

Speaking as a guy who's worked as a duty manager at a shady hotel (the one where they host the Chevy and Nasty Show on the Fan960), I can tell you that a hotel room really isn't as clean as some may think. I suggest for anyone who doesn't already that the next time they stay at a hotel, to sleep under the bed sheet that is under the comforter (as most hotels have two bed sheet layers for this purpose). Why you ask? Well, because they wash those comforters once a month. That's right, potentially 30 other individuals may have used that same comforter before you.

There was recently an expose on CNN I think - under ultra-violet light, they showed how hotel rooms are actually splattered with all kinds of bodily fluids.

I haven't seen actual 'glasses' in a hotel room for quite a long time. The last few years, all I've seen are plastic cups sealed in tamper-evident plastic bags. I don't touch anything in a hotel room that I don't have to, shower with flip-flops on, etc. Then again, I have a bit of OCD.

Reading this thread I can't even remember the last time I stayed at a hotel.. Probably the last time I was in Calgary (2002), and I'm pretty sure that water was about the only thing we didn't drink!

Did anyone else think of the show 'Rock Bottom' from the Simpsons after watching that video?
OK, yeah, they don't wash the glasses very clean. Gross. Not much worse than using the same fork for three days when camping. At least they used windex on it.
But seriously, have you ever noticed stacks of clean glasses on the cleaners' cart? Neither have I. Not a big surprise.
I'm with MQS. The alcohol will kill the germs.

Dang... does this mean we can't trust the ones that have a paper wrap around them as well? I'm grossed out. I stayed in at least two hotels a week for the past two years. No wonder my immune system was trashed.
