CP Jihad: I need your vote to make this shirt a reality!
Hello Comrades,
If you've never been to Threadless.com you really should check it out. They have awesome t-shirt designs submitted by regular people like you and me, and then voted on by the public at large.
And here's where I need you! I've submitted a design, visible here, and I need YOU to stop by and give it a quick vote! Please help make this controversial shirt a reality!
I would greatly appreciate any votes towards this design; it would fill me with great joy to see this shirt printed! If this shirt gets voted in I will return and create a contest to randomly give away three of this shirt to my friends here in CP who turned out to vote!
Here is the link again: http://www.threadless.com/submission...iss_Your_Smile

Nice...
I've always thought I'd try and submit something to Threadless. It's a great site, and great shirts. I just haven't been as whitty lately.

I don't get it. Is there some reference in the shirt I'm not familiar with?

Do we have to register or is our vote still counted if we don't?

Actually, if you can quit seeing it as just a dead cat and read into it a little more, it's highly amusing.
I think it's a terrific piece of art with a very humorous message. I'd buy this shirt for sure.

Threadless is awesome.
I'm wearing my "I Listen To Bands That Don't Even Exist Yet" shirt right now.
Cheap, unique, fast-shipping shirts.
Good luck with your design.

i have that, the clown puking a rainbow, darth vader pruning a tree into a death star, and "what would MacGuyver do?" showing an empty toilet paper roll. i have to shake my head though when people read my haiku shirt and then say "i don't get it"

Geez, I suppose a middle-aged divorced man who misses his wife would qualify as 'emo' then? Pretty narrow view of what emo is, IMO.
Ridiculous.

Your average 40 year old divorced man:
1- 99% of the time does not display his emotions on a T-shirt
2- 99% of the time does not illustrate those emotions with a deceased cat.
So no, a middle aged divorced man who misses his wife would likely not be emo, and would likely not wear this T shirt IMHO.

We're not talking about the shirt, we're talking about how you define 'emo.'
"I miss the sound of your voice in the morning."
I asked you how to explain the emo nature behind this quote, and you responded with giving me the same quote. That's not an explanation.
I'm interested to know how you define 'emo.' Please continue.

I should have been more clear. I think the phrase "I miss the sound of your voice in the morning" coupled with a picture of a dead cat, is emo. The thread is about the shirt, and it has been the context of my comments. You didn't ask me to explain why the quote was emo, you asked to explain why the shirt was emo. I don't know why my definition of emo is relevant, but if you must, this one is fitting:
A La Urban Dictionary
An entire subculture of people (usually angsty teens) with a fake personality. The concept of Emo is actually a vicious cycle that never ends, to the utter failing of humanity, and it goes something like this:
1. Girls say they like "sensitive guys" (lie)
2. Guy finds out, so he listens to faggy emo music and dresses like a dork so chicks will see that he is sensitive and not afraid to express himself (lie). He dyes his hair black, wraps himself in a stupid looking scarf, develops an eating disorder, and rants about how "nobody understands".
3. Now an emo guy, he meets Emo chick and they start dating, talking about how their well-off suburban lifestyles are terrible and depressing (lie)
4. Emo guy is just too much of a . His penis is too small, he's too depressed to bathe, and has more mood swings than emo chick, and he doesn't even have a menstrual cycle. Emo chick dumps him, saying "It's not you, it's me." (lie) as she drives off with Wayne, the school jock and captain of the football team.
5. Emo guy goes home and cries, proceeds to write a weak song and strum a single string on his acoustic guitar. Another emo chick sees how he is so in touch with his feelings, and the cycle continues.
Not perfect, but gets the job done.
Anyhow
When i visualize this shirt, it's on a teenager who thinks his problems in life are a lot bigger than they are in reality. I don't picture it on a man who just lost his wive of 20 years, I picture it on a kid who just lost his girlfriend of 20 days. I am allowed to have an opinion on a shirt, after all, it's only my opinion, don't take it as fact.
I'm done debating semantics here, good luck with getting your shirt printed ek!

I like that shirt. The more I think of it, the more I like it. It makes you think. It tells a story. It paints a picture. For me, it conjures the image of a fat dude in boxer shorts, gazing out the window at his dead cat, a single tear running down his face which casts the unmistakable expression of mild regret - possibly for the dead cat - more likely for the broken window he can't afford to fix, and his own sudden sense of loneliness. The captioned phrase is an afterthought, suggesting only the faintest glimmer of dutiful humanity. It is the last thing that occurs to him before he turns away, off to take a mid-morning dump.
Quite poetic really.
