We tend to get a little preoccupied around here with sensational, controversial and off-the-wall topics, and sometimes miss commenting on the good news that happens, so I thought I'd post this topic for discussion.
The huge new arctic wetlands reserve that the Conservatives are creating is excellent news in my view, and I'm shocked that the Tory's would/could ever do anything that would make environmentalists "ecstatic". I'm even more shocked that they would protect the Mackenzie Valley from pipeline development and such a vast land tract from resource development. Major kudos to the Conservatives for doing this.
Excerpt:
"It's a massive sheltering of wilderness, a move that will declare 10 million hectares off limits to industrial development, an area roughly equal to five Prince Edward Islands or 11 Yellowstone National Parks."
I guess it's not good news if you're a uranium mining or oil company though.
