Anyone have any predictions, I predict a Klein win (pretty risky I know) but it will be slightly less landslided as expected. In my neighborhood I would not be suprised if the PC (Hlady) loses. The liberal dude's signs seem to be on every house in the neighborhood, mind you I am in the hippiest area in Calgary.
why would you have to be a hippy to vote against Klein?

Hmmm, you must be in my neighbourhood. Actually, Swann has a pretty impressive resume, not only being a doctor with a tremendous humanitarian record (including missions to Iraq in the last four years), he's also done a lot for the community, including helping to give Sunnyside the only pesticide-free park in the city. I know a guy in the Green Party who was saying that the Greens, NDP, and Liberals were all courting Swann, trying to get him to run for their party.

Overall, it'll obviously be a huge sweep for Klein, but my prediction is 71-9-3 (PC-Lib-NDP)--I'm assuming there's still 83 seats? And a popular vote of 54-30-10, with the Greens and Alliance picking up about 3% each.

IT doesn't hurt. [/b][/quote]
so with your reasoning you have to be an evil oil-loving, kitten eating, corporate tyrant to vote for klein? I mean if we are going for stereotypes.....

I dont consider myself a hippie by a long shot, and I personall would vote for the Green party.

This has to be the most pathetic election ever. I got one thing in the mail from the Conservatives about where to vote. That's it. No other literature, no door knockers, nothing from anyone.

I guess the campaign this year is "Vote for Me But I Won't Tell You Anything About Me Or Let You Know That I Even Exist".

Hey, I made my mind up after reading one of my guys' signs:

"Liberal, Alliance , Tory
All the same
business controlled story"

Who needs door knockers when you can create beautiful prose like that???

A Social Credit Party guy came to my house

I'm not gonna give the NDP much credit and the Alliance is the main competition outside of Calgary and Edmonton, which is still 1 million people.

I say Seat wise:

59-PC
17-Liberal
5-Alliance
2-NDP

Popular Support:

45%-PC
26%-Liberal
11%-Alliance
10%-NDP
3%-Socred
2%-Separatists
3%-Greens, Commies, Spoiled Ballots

Strange as it may seem the only reason I've really noticed this election is because of the signs someone put up on the highway on my way home . . . . . right at a major deer crossing on both sides of a hill.

In the dark of the early morning and evening it freaks me out as I've often forgotten about them.

The headlights hit these signs rather suddenly as the vehicle angles up or down the hill quite steeply and I sometimes hit the brakes because I think, for a split second at least, I'm going to mow down a four legged critter.

But at least it gets me thinking about the @*#*&#&#$ election!!!

Well, there is a Alberta Seperatist Party. I don't think they have candidates in most urban ridings, but they're everywhere out in the country.

As far as I know, Alliance is regionalist, but are not separatists.

The Separation Party has 12 guys running this time, one in Calgary.

I had a much different experience. I actually had a volunteer show up and my door and give me some literature on the candidate, the party, and where to vote. Then about a week later my MLA actually showed up at my door and I got to actually speak with the guy. That was the PC candidate of course, and you can bet I'll be voting for him. I would have anyway, but it sure doesn't help that from all the other parties, I didn't get a single pamphlet at the door.

I'm not saying that every candidate can or should knock on all doors, but come on, the PC's don't even have to campaign, maybe if the Libs et al, did a little more leg work (at least in my neighborhood) they'd do a little better.

A lot of people are criticizing the PC party for how they campaigned this election but in my view that parties that deserve the harshest critcism are the Liberals and NDPs.

You have a party go out there (the PCs) with no platform, no plan, no stance on the issues, and yet they are still going to win a vast majority. Why? Because neither opposition party has proven themselves to be a credibile alternative.

Alberta needs a strong opposition. Right now the Libs and NDP simply are not providing that.

I think thats why people have to give the Alliance a real look... hopefully they get at least 3 seats tonight to give them something to work from.

Give them some time to fine tune, and they have the teeth and the ideologies to really give the PCs a run... don't forget they aren't even 2 years old.

I don't think that 12 candidates in the whole province can really be considered everywhere. I know you said out in the country, but there's got to be more than 12 rural ridings (Maybe there is only 12). Either way, the seperatists can't really be considered everywhere rural or otherwise with only 12 candidates for 83 seats.
