It is a rolling stone magazine list, the top song is about a rolling stone, and the 2nd song is by the Rolling Stones! I smell a conspiracy!
Funny thing is, I like a lot of the performers listed, but wouldn't call any of those songs their best. London Calling is probably the worst song on that album, for instance!

I would disagree, it is a really good album and a really great song.
My vote for best song from The Clash would be "Guns of Brixton."

All along the watchtower was about 10x better than purple haze by Hendrix in my opinion.

My favorite song on that list is probably "Yesterday." And I agree about the Purple Haze vs. Watchtower thing.
My pick would be "Why Don't We Get Drunk (And Screw)" by Jimmy Buffett. :P

That is correct, all along the watchtower is a cover of a Bob Dylan song. Although for the best Jimi cover, look no farther than their cover of Sgt. Peppers, one of few Beatles covers that is actually better than the original.

Brutal list IMO. Of course I tend not to be a big subscriber in the belief that all the good music came out in the 60's and 70's. Of course I'm biased in that most of the stuff I listen to was created in the past 15 years.
Only one song in the top 10 later than 1971? Only 3 songs from 2000+? Whatever.

Whatever?
Why not list some of these great songs instead of being 12 years old about it.

I would argue that something by the Pogues should be up there or Johnny Cash of course.

I would argue that something by The Tragically Hip, Cake, Bad Religion, should be up there as well, but they aren't.. oh well.

Well, duh?
I just don't see the point of anyone getting their panties in a twist over a list like that. Mine would be different, yours would be different FDW"s would have alot of O-Town. Who cares.

I would have to disagree with you on that, I can't stand The Tragically Hip. To me it sounds like the guy is yodelling.
I can't really argue with the list because the only "rock" music I can stand is the stuff from the 60's,70's a little 80's and a few (pushing it) 90's.

Too much o-town, backstreet and 98 degrees for FDW. What great songs have come in 2000s??? and 1990s for that matter? Answer that FDW.
