Default Neuromancer film coming???

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=20507

William Gibson's "Neuromancer" is finally going to be made into a film? I hate to get my hopes up considering the constant on-again/off-again nature of this project, but sci-fi fans can only hope...

I saw Gibson at Word Fest, and he signed the books of his that I had. I'd really like to see Pattern Recognition turned into a film, actually.

Let the 80's die already. Neuromancer, for all its brilliance, and drug disorder, if made now, would probably be reduced to a cartoonish action fetish similar in the vein of Robocop 3. For all the futurism that Gibson wrote, the characters are remarkably reminiscent of the period. Animate the film. or do the CGI work that is Final Fantasy Advent Children. Just don't make it a live action piece. Even though I would seriously like to see Dina Meyer reprise her role as Molly.

The best way to evaluate any piece of science fiction, is to imagine if the film version of whatever novel you are reading was done by Paul Verhoeven. Other than Star Trek, (Which seriously was leaning that way anyways) all notable science fiction films of the last decade have suffered under this, otherwise they were straight to dvd exercises.

Well I would hope the movie would make more sense than the book. I lost count of the things in that book that got zero explanation yet they were treated like there was an understanding of it.

I would like to see a Snow Crash movie. I know it's not the same author, but it's the same genre.

A Neuromancer movie? :/ I loved the book, but I can't think of a less "filmic" narrative in the entire Gibson oevre.

I second the "Pattern Recognition" comment--that would make a great film. Or "Spook Country," even--that one might be all right, too!

Of course, I'll go see it anyway--I'm a sucker for this kind of stuff.
