No! My dog is lost!

If anyone sees a really friendly golden retreiver around the south east, my 9 yr old brother let him in the yard with the gate open.

He's 4 years old and his name is Astro. Man my family will be upset if he got hit by a car or something... would he be able to survive the night if noone finds him and he doesn't get inside?

He has a red collar and licencing, and was last seen at about 7:00 pm in Lake Bonavista... right by the ridge of Bow Bottom near Deer Run and Queensland... My folks already drove looking for him, I just got home to find out. Please let me know if you've seen him.

Dang, I know the feeling (see cat thread). Hope your dog comes home or is found safe!

Also:

Petlynx.net is good too when you're not out looking.

I've got friends and family in the area, I'll ask them to keep an eye out tomorrow. Make sure you watch down in Fish Creek. Maybe even message the Park Wardens that cruise around there.

Hopefully your dog went exploring the neighbourhood and returns by morning. We had a black lab that did that when the gate was left open.

Man that sucks, I really hope someone finds him. If he wandered off, he should be able to find his way home. When I was a kid I had a Yellow Lab get lost while we were skating on a lake we had not been to before. She found he way back to our house.

I saw a retriever walking himself last night down Copperfield Blvd. It was pretty dark out but he seemed to be lighter in colour than what I'd consider "golden." Maybe blonde would be the word I'd use.

With the bridges in Fish Creek Park it is possible to go from Deer Run to McKenzie Lake pretty quick.

If I see him again or any found posters I'll let you know.

I would suggest calling the radio stations and giving them the info, quite often on Country 105 people call in and ask for the listeners to keep their eyes open.

Now that I think about it, when did he escape last night?

Because the dog I saw; I saw him around 6:30. And I just noticed you post was later, so if your dog went missing after that, obviously the dog I saw wasn't him.

A passage through Fish Creek Park could be dangerous for a dog. Coyotes are there and love stray dogs.

Vet offices in the area, rescue agencies, the city pound, etc, etc. Put them on notice. You could also put some posters up in the area.

I would suggest for you to call the following places and give them a description of your dog.

- SPCA, sometimes people find dogs and turn them in

- local Vet clinics

- I was told its a good idea to post pictures on Mail boxes.....

- Make sure your neighbours are aware of this, they may have seen him
