Hawks have some VERY BIG problem with giving up goals in last 3 minutes of game. Might be endurance thing coz fringe&young players have low endurance. I'd count a number of goals Hawks conceded in last 3 minutes of 3rd, I think, it would be very impressive number. Game story &other stuff will be later

In each and every of last 4 games Hawks conceded a goal in last 2 minutes of 3rd.

Throughout the season in last 3 minutes of 3rd period Hawks gave up 9 goals (due to law of averages this number should be 3 times less, i.e. 3).

Aside from this, Hawks did everything right. Newly acquired Hawks leader Bulis made an impressive 2-points, +1 debut. Newly-assembled top-line of Bulis-Erat-Knutsen-Salo-Sauer combined for 2 goals and first time in awhile finished on the positive side of +/-. “I can’t remember when Hawks top line finished in + last time”, said Hawks GM.

Newly acquired Andy McDonald scored in his second game as Hawk and led his team with 4 shots. Kurt Sauer, who just returned from IR, had a great game with goal, +1, 4 hits and 3 shots and won 2nd star award. Even Brent Johnson was as good as opponent’s goaltender. It’s all was great aside from the fact that Jackets had 9 PP on the night while Hawks had only 5. It might be just revenge as last game between those teams Hawks had much more PP time than Jackets.

“I am quite satisfied with my team’s performance in recent games”, said Hawks GM Pointman. “When Bulis will play at 100 CON (today he had 2 points with 98) Hawks will be quite a good team. I know, we technically have that 8 games loosing streak but it’s very misleading if you’d track Hawks closely. Long-awaited Bulis-Erat-Knutsen line clicked in their first night together and McDonald is proving to be a steal. Johnson is improving after pathetic start and generally Hawks are looking like a team, who are close to put it all together.”

"Well it's time Fluery got some starts obviously", said JohnnyFlame. The Caps outshoot them in convincing fashion, put up two special teams goals and allow none. Plus score two goals five on five. They limit the Flyers to 7 shots or so a period and lose?

Gotta put the blame right on Olaf's shoulders this game and then take it off and put it right on the GM for overplaying him.

FLYING V TOO MUCH FOR TIRED OILERS

The Oilers came crashing back down to Earth hard in a 3-2 overtime setback against the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. With both squads playing their third game in as many nights the game was surprisingly fast paced. Having rode stud mullet toting goalie Roberto Luongo to exhaustion the Ducks turned to rookie Ilya Bryzlagov to hold off the Oilers. The young Russian did not dissappoint and showed that he is indeed worthy of his role as Luongo's backup with a dazzling 23 save performance.

The Oilers opened the scoring for the first time in the past 4 games when Brendan Morrow potted his 5th of the season after a brillian cross ice feed from J.P.Dumont. But just 59 seconds later the Oilers lost blue liner Jay McKee for the night when he kicked Mike York in the ankle after the Duck had hooked the Oiler rearguard to the ice. The Oilers P.K. unit did hold off the Duck P.P. and held a 1-0 lead after the first.

Rob Blake tied the game just over 7 minutes into the second when he rifled a shot high to the glove side of Thomas Vokun. From there the Oilers pressed but were unable to beat the Ducks rookie in the net. Bryzlagov was especially sharp on an Oiler powerplay stiffling the Morrow/Dumont combination 3 times on cross ice one timers.

The Oilers grabbed the lead just after the halfway point of the third when Marian Hossa was able to strip the puck from Rhett Warrener and was able to beat Bryzlagov through the legs. But the Ducks responded quickley when Tuomo Ruutu got a P.P. marker past Vokun. The two teams than battled to a stalemate to finish off regulation.

The Ducks took the charity point in OT when Viktor Kozlov showed off his sick athletic ability and let a howiztzer wrist shot fly over Vokuns shoulder three minutes in to OT.

Oilers GM Sylvanfan had this to say. "We are very disappointed to lose this game. We really needed to win this in regulation to get back into the division race. Now we're miles behind these guys and I expect that Avs will be tapping us on the ass shortly to remind us that we've been lapped! We have the Rangers coming in on Monday and with studs like Sundin, Tkachuck, and Richards I don't see how they won't beat our ass silly. Plain and simple right now we're a middle of the pack hockey club with tonnes of potential. But the bottom line is that we're not all that good on the ice right now. I can't let the frustration control too many decisions as our team does have a very bright future."

On a side note chotchy mulleted goaltender Roberto Luongo sat on the bench and looked into the stands with awe. After the game he was quoted as saying "This city is loaded with 80's cougar like women. I wish I was a free agent right now because I couldn't sign a contract to play here fast enough! I'll bet they'd go absolutely nuts when they see my Camaro!"

SABRES CROWN KINGS
Play 4th straight OT game

The Buffalo Sabres continue to scrape together points, this time finally an OT win, 3-2 over the LA kings in the teams 2nd game against Western competition.

While the Sabres top line continues to struggle, Ziggy Palffy did score the game winner and remains amongst the league scoring leaders. Also struggling is Kim Johnsson who has yet to register a point since joining the team.

On the productive side of the ledger Steve Rucchin and Bates Battagllia added to their impressive point scoring streaks of 7 and 5 games respectively, and Scott Mellanby was the 2nd star for the 2nd time in 3 games since joining the Sabres. The line of Fedotenko-Rucchin-Mellanby appears to be clicking. Look for the other lines to be juggled in an attempt to boost the offence. Also look for Martin Gerber to get his 2nd start soon.

The Sabres are 4 points out of a playoff spot, but playing their best hockey of the short season.

Even being outshot 35-29 the Preds demolished the Bruins 4-1. On a sad note Chris McAllister was hurt meaning that the Preds will only have 4 NHL defenseman in the lineup.

I might be looking at adding some depth in that department if anyone has any available.
