Default Headed to the Center of the Universe

Yes, that's right, I am headed to Toronto for a week for training for work. This will be my first trip to Toronto, so I am hoping people who have been there before will have some suggestions as to what to see and do when I am not stuck in the classroom.

There are 2 other co-workers coming with me as well.

I know there is the HHOF, I would love to go see that, but I will have to skip out early one day to try to make my way down there.
Also debating going to see the Leafs vs Canadians on the 13th as well. I would just pick up tix from a scalper.

The hotel I am staying at is on Bloor, close to Young, by the U of T. So what else is there to see and do in TO? I am sure there is a tonne of things to do. Just keep in mind, i am going to be stuck in class till around 5 every day. So nightlife things are good.

Thanks for any suggestions guys.

You won't be too far from The Brunswick House

I found the CN tower to be of interest, but mostly what stuck out about that experience was their security blower thing that puffs air on you to see if you have a gun or not. Different.

Check out the Much Music building. It's close to all that stuff downtown. When we were there, they were doing a little filming outside and my wife got a picture with Bradford Howe. Wasn't quite as cool as when I was younger but if it's right there...

If you're staying at Yonge/Bloor, you're right near the area of Yorkville (Bay/Bloor). Some nice eclectic and fancy shops and restaurants, and possibly a good place to see celebrities if you like that sort of thing. Also really good wings at a place there called Hemingway's.

If the weather's decent, walk down Yonge Street from Bloor to Queen - there are still some head shops enroute, and then head through the Eaton Centre. Once you hit Queen, walk west to John St (where MuchMusic is). Again, some neat places to see and good for some people-watching.

Definitly go see the CN tower. The view from there is amazing.

If you pay extra, you can go 30 stories above the observation level to Sky Pod. Its the little bubble on top, with a panoramic view. The first couple times I went up the CN tower, I ignored skypod because I thought it was a rip-off. Last time I was there, I went all the way up to skypod, and it was pretty cool. As it was nightime, seeing the lights of the city like that was beautiful. Whether it's worth the extra $$$ is debatable, though.

Bloor and Yonge? Perfect, if you're around 25 or so, it's a hop, skip and a jump to The Madison (10 minute walk). It's just east of Spadina and Bloor (on Madison Avenue). Really nice place to drink and pick up (just a perfect place to have a pint and hit on women who are taken :-)) Anyway, go down College Street if you're the artsy type for the artsy college crowd bars. And the suggestions from others are certainly great places to check out (though, don't know what's so good about the MuchMusic building).

Hey, have a great time, spent a few days in Toronto this summer. If you have a chance check out the show "We Will Rock You" by Queen and Ben Elton. Really good show! CN Tower is great, have only been up in the day however.
Eaton's Centre is nice, they should be all decked out for Christmas. Check out Nathan Phillips Square, usually lots of things going on there.
