Default NBC Benches New Heroes

Quote:
The Writer's Guild of America strike has not officially happened yet, but it has already claimed its first casualty.

NBC has indefinitely halted production on a highly touted planned midseason Heroes spinoff, Heroes: Origins, in anticipation of the Industry-wide writers' strike.

NBC was supposed to make an Office spinoff too, I wonder if that's now on the back-burner?

Was it the impending strike or the 3-4 million decrease in viewers for Heroes from last year to this year I wonder.

Now if only they'd bench the entire Heroes show itself. I don't think I've seen a show fall so quickly.

The OC? While it probably didn't appeal to most CPers (at least few would admit it) that show had a huge following and put up big numbers its first two seasons. Then things went downhill fast. IIRC they didn't even finish the last season properly but just threw together a final episode to (loosely) tie everything together.

Time to cross the picket line, I mean its not like you need talent to write the dribble that passes for TV scripts today... heck we can all write scripts, pick your favorite show and start writing it now.

I wonder exactly how will they handle that... ton of writers out there that would give an arm for a FT position on a series.... and since everything can be done remotely its not like they will get spit on "crossing" the line.

I can't really say I'm shocked. It took 5 episodes for them to even show us what the plot was going to be about this season. Silar is evil. Claire is a teenager who has hormones, but is trying to conceal her identity. Hiro has to save Feudal Japan. Peter doesn't know who he is. We get it!

it's so much those story lines because they could be quite good. It's all the other story lines and characters they are introducing. By the time they finish they are going to have an ensemble cast of 40 people! They need to cut it back. Last year they had some new characters here and there but they were mainly for Sylar or Peter to gain new powers. They were cameos not recurring roles.

You forgot about Molly, The company, see it do it burger king girl, mind reading guys dad...

I agree waay to many plots and although I see that they will tie together, its like days of our lives or some crap... they can only spend 3 minutes on each story line in the hour, no wonder it goes no where... I'm getting tired of it... I PVR it but its not the first thing I watch anymore.

I'd like to see how creative a hollywood writers strike sign would be.
