Predators Acquire Sullivan and Timonen!

In a move that was widely expected around the league, the Nashville Predators have traded Markus Naslund to the New York Rangers.

In exchange for Naslund the Predators receive Steve Sullivan and Jussi Timonen. Sullivan has not played well in New York this season, and he is a swap for the also underperforming Naslund. In the Predators camp the hope is that Sullivan can gel with Marc Savard and Miroslav Satan to complete a solid first line. Timonen, although not as offensively gifted as brother Timmo is nonetheless a decent defensive addition for the years to come.

Naslund was expected to do a lot more in Nashville. His $10 million salary is a large part of the reason that he was moved. We wish him all the best in the big Apple.

Rangers felt this deal had to be made Steve Sullivan has not performed and a the top line needed to have a change.

Pretty strange deal, I was interested in both Naslund in Sullivan but I hesitated because each of them have their own issues (sullivans back, naslund having a big contract and who knows which team he will even play for next year). Overall not sure what to think, looks pretty even because each team took on different risks and there won't be a clear winner until we see how these risks pan out imo.
