Naslund and Vigneault feud boils over in Nashville...
Expectations were high to start the season in Tennesee. If you are the elite player brought in to meet those expectations, things can be stressful...it looks like the stress of the situation has caught up with Markus Naslund who finally took some shots at his coach.
"We're not getting enough chances and I think we have to work too hard to get our chances compared to other teams," Naslund said. "I have my own views. I think we're throwing away way too many pucks instead of trying to be creative and not giving the puck away when we've got it." Naslund was referring to the latest game against the Blackhawks.
"After the first 11 minutes I liked our game," Vigneault said.
"That's a real strong hockey team on the other side with a lot of speed and lot of skill and for the last nine minutes of the first and the last two periods I liked our game.
"Both teams battled really hard. They had chances, we had some. There wasn't a lot of room. If you take away the shots after the first 11 minutes, the shots and the chances are about the same. We battled hard. There was energy from both sides, fights from both sides. It was a hard-fought game."
GM Slava was quick to jump to judgment in the situation, saying "we just re-signed our coach to a 3 year deal in the off-season, and I stand by that decision." He continued in what comes as a bit of a surprise at the 14 game point of the season "One person in the dispute has a mere 9 points in 14 games, and we've made deals to bring in some players to help him. I think its pretty clear who either needs to shape up or be shipped out."
