Default Radulov a Duck

After weeks of negotiations and discussions, the Ducks were finally able to trade for Radulov. Going back to the Flyers is veteran center Michael Nylander. The Ducks only traded for Nylander because they needed an upgrade that would satisfy the needs of the Flyers.

With Radulov we get a young stud on the wing who has a great contract for the next 2 years and is already a 74OV. We see a lot of potential in him and expect a great season out him. Now moving forward we have two young guys up front that can play together for years in Cammy and Radulov. If only we could find a Center to play between the two then we would be a major force in this league moving forward.

Thanks to the Flyers for the straightforward negotiations!

In some ways this is really even trade; young guy with loads of potential who could have a break through season this year for a proven veteran who should have a great season as well!

The 78 for the 74 though is a big difference up front!! Immediate dividends for the Flyers and this trade looks better in a year or two for the Ducks.

Yea guess you can call it even but what's the Ducks strategy here? They recently traded for Neidermayer and Roberts... two vets probably in there last CPHL season. They wanted to compete this season... and then they go trade a 78OV vet for a 74OV 2nd year player??

Well 3 days ago I traded Malone (74OV) and letang for nylander. I wanted Radulov all along so compared to a few days ago the starting lineup is the same. It is tough to turn your back on a deal that brings a guy like Radulov into the fold.

My plan is to stay competitive until later in the season when more teams throw in the towels, then I can trade some of my youth to make a push for the playoffs.

Either way I like having a core of Radulov, Cammy and Luongo moving forward to next year.

I think it's a good deal for the Ducks.

It has taken longer than it should but the Flyers finally have come out with a comment on their recent acquisition of Michael Nylander.

Moving Radulov was not a move that GM moon had anticipated moving at any time this season. He was a player that was looked at as a solid building block for the future as well a contributor in the team this year. However, with the recent struggles this team had encountered and the age of a few of the players the team decided to make a stronger push to go for it this season. The injury and tiredness issues that have come up recently also pointed out the benefit of having depth on the top two lines. We feel that with the players we have that any concerns for the future can be addressed by moving the talent we have on the team.

We have recently moved a couple of high valued prospects that look to have bright futures. But we feel that these players potential will not be seen until next year at the earliest and perhaps not even until two or three years in the future. We still have a strong nucleus of young talented players and still feel that we can be a strong contender this year.

As to the addition of Michael Nylander specifically, GM moon was excited to add a tough, gritty two way forward with the ability to score the odd goal and make things difficult for the opposition. When informed that this was the exact opposite of the type of player that Nylander was he quickly hung his head and cried himself to sleep in his rusted out AMC Gremlin in the arena parking lot.
