Default The Heroin Diaries - A year in the life of a troubled rockstar.

Just finnished reading it and all i can say is wow. It's an amazing insight into someone's mental state while their battling addiction.

The book is made up of real diary entries from Nikki Sixx, Motley Crue's bassist, while he was battling addiction to cocaine and heroin in 1987 followed by commantary on the entries from Nikki and people mentioned in the book. A really good read and the layout of the book is unreal.

Has anyone else read it?

EDIT: I'm a big fan of the Crue and have read both the bands bio "The Dirt" and Tommy Lee's "Tommyland" and "The Heroin Diaries" completly blows these two outta the water.

I have not read the book, although I guess it is in the top 3 of the best sellers list now. He said that even for him to read the book in its layout, very mind boggling for him to think he could have been in such a bad way and how surreal he sounded then. And now that he is on a tour promoting his book, he said that so many just come up and tell him their stories and many are now addressing their addictions as well because they have read his book.

There is a very interesting interview with him in Maclean's magazine this week.

Found it a very good read.

How does it compare to "The Dirt"? That was probably the single most entertaining book I've ever read

The Dirt is probably my favourite book of all time. If its as good as you say it is then I'll be one happy reader. I'm on my way to the bookstore now.

You might also find Please Kill Me interesting (70s punk scene). What the Crue did was pretty mild to what Iggy Pop was doing.

I too LOVE the dirt and tommyland and am not a huge motley crue follower. I have gotten my sister to order this book for my bday, which is in a couple weeks, and can't wait to crack it open!

On a side note, if you like these type of books, Scar Tissue (anthony keidis) and how to make love like a porn star (jenna jameson) are great reads.

The Sixx AM "companion" album to the book is suprisingly good. I was expecting a turd but it's not bad. Radio rock with hooks blended with a bit of theatrical rock and an ounce of prog. The singer is a bit generic but very effective, I can't dislike this album.

Still need to get my hands on the book, I loved the Dirt. The Keidis book was good but the drug stuff was a bit tedious after the 16th relapse. I like the Peppers but I started wishing the guy would just OD already.
